HOW IS STRESS HELPFUL?

Often times we use the term "stress" as a negative; however, small doses of stress allows each of us to accomplish aspects in our life. Stress can help us is ways listed below.


  • motivation
  • boosting memory
  • excitement
  • focuses energy
  • short-term
  • improves performance

WHEN IS STRESS TOO MUCH?

Even though small doses of stress is good, we sometimes have stress that feels overwhelming and suffocating.


  • extreme anxiety
  • unpleasant feeling
  • decreases performance (freezing productivity)
  • creates mental or physical problems

HEALTHY WAYS TO COPE

As parents and community members, we can help assist people who are experiencing negative stress by talking and listening to others, encouraging, reassuring, and connecting to those in need.


  • Take care of yourself-get active
  • Talk to and stay connected with others
  • Avoid drugs/alcohol
  • Take a break-avoid social media!
  • Use purposeful relaxation-breathing
