In today's world, we're connected to so many people at any given time. With one hit of the "post" button, hundreds, sometimes thousands of "friends" can see our joys, our sorrows…and well, some of our not-so-finest moments. There are practical benefits to being in touch with so many in one fell swoop, but there can be some negative repercussions as well. Communicating politely can fall by the wayside when we're not face-to-face. This is particularly true for the young people we teach. They have grown up communicating electronically. Let's remind them that by applying "maximum politeness" to what they are making public, they reduce the possibility of negative outcomes. And let's practice what we teach.
