CHANGES IN HIGH SCHOOL DURING THE PANDEMIC
COLE HENLEY and DYLLAN MONTOYA
FLEXIBLE LEARNING
The pandemic made us go through an extremely tough time since it started, and still continues to change lives of those in our community in many ways. Families have suffered many losses of loved ones because of COVID-19. The healthcare workers have worked very hard on the vaccine. Many people have been vaccinated, which has helped to decrease the pandemic. We, unfortunately, still have to practice social distancing (at least 6 feet apart), wear masks, and wash our hands with soap and water. Stores, restaurants, libraries, schools, and traveling on airplanes are opening to full capacity. Hopefully, we may not need masks at school in September. The Flexible Learning class was not able to leave school to go field trips, visit with other students, or do extra activities. In 2022, Flexible Learning will have job training for people who want to work in a grocery store (i.e. QFC, Safeway), restaurant (i.e. Burger King, Taco Bell, Jack-In-The-Box, KFC, etc.), and music stores. In the near future, we hope to be able to visit any museum, restaurants, libraries, and most importantly, the Gathering Place. In addition, Flexible Learning can learn new things and get the opportunity to help others.
