A famous composer of the low countries. Wrote 14 masses (including a Requim mass), 5 motets, a motet-chanson, and 21chansons. Thirteen of the masses are preserved in the Chigi codex. Had a strong influence on Josquin des Prez.
Josquin des Prez
A famous composer of the low countries. Josquin lived during a transitional stage in music history. Used homophonic textures. Wrote masses, motets, chansons and motet-chansons. Famous works include Ave Maria.
Orlande de Lassus
A famous composer of the low countries. Lassus remained catholic even though a lot of people in this place and time were becoming protestant. Wrote mainly parody masses based on secular works. Wrote a total of 60 masses. Work ranged from Gregorian chants to comtempory madrigal. Wrote some sacred music like for the Roman Rite and motets.

Notre Dame Cathedral is the center of where most of the music improvements of the Renaissance took place. France was the most musical place in the Renaissance.
Gilles Binchois
A famous french composer. Wrote mainlymasses. All of is work, even sacred, music was clear and outlined. He wrote music for the court so a lot of his works are secualr. They are about love and chiverly.
