The March of Dimes Foundation
FBLA wants YOU to know!
What is there to know?
The March of Dimes is an organization founded in 1938 to promote and support awareness of premature births and deficiencies in America. 38,000 children are born each year premature or with a birth defect, and half of these cases are still unknown, and researchers are willing to work day and night to find a reason why. Their mission? "Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. We are working to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and healthy babies. From polio to prematurity the March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten our children and finding ways to prevent them." However, researchers need money to keep this research under their inspection. That's why they call out to people like us!
What do we do?
The March of Dimes foundation has hosted fundraising balls, dinners, motercycle rides and even Jail bails (mock trial). However, the organizations most successful even has always been their march. Marches located in Georgia start on April 16th of this year until August 5th in Athens Georgia! Each walk is about 2 miles and all you have to do to join is donate an amount of money of your choice. Anyone is welcome to join in an afternoon full of support. If you are not interested in attending a fundraiser, donate online or wait for the FBLA to begin their annual trip around classrooms for donations from our classmates. March of Dimes benefits from any amount of money given and any event attended, so please do not turn away from helping such a wonderful organization.
