What is Cyberbullying?
Is the use of electronic communication to bully a person, typically by sending messages of an intimidating or threatening nature.
Examples of cyberbullying
- Cyberbullying can happen anytime the day or week,or day and night.
- Cyberbullying messages and images can be posted anonymously and spend out very quickly.
- Deleting inappropriate or harassing messages, text, and pictures is extremely different after it has been sent.
Three differences between cyberbullying & bullying
- Cyberbullying is through electronic and bully is through fighting or talking bad to other.
- Cyber can be without no one knowing and bullying you know who did it.
- bullying is fighting and touching but cyber is just talking and posting.
Effects of cyberbullying
- Use of drugs and alcohol
- skip school
- having low grades
- more heath problems
- be unwilling to attend school
Prevention & Awareness
- Know the sites your kids visit online
- talk to them and ask them questions
- tell them the limit for where to go and not to go
- ask them if there is any problems online
Establishing Rules
- fine out the people who you talk to
- block them and report them if needed
- ask an adult if they can help with the bully
Reporting a Cyberbully
- Don't respond to and don't forward cyber bullying messages.
- Keep evidence of cyberbullying. Records the dates time and description of instance when cybeerbullying has occurred. Save and print screenshots and email and text messages.
- Block the person who is cyberbullying.
Report to your online service provider
- Review their terms and conditions or rights and responsibilities section.
- Report cyberbullying to the social media site so they can take action against users abusing.
