Keeping up with what's going down!

The First 6 Weeks Is Coming To An END!

Incredible week last week! Throughout the week we had various assignments with poetry and learning to look deeper into the text. It's really fun to watch the students look at text differently. My greatest joys come from watching their light bulbs go off.... you can see it all over their faces.

One thing that we struggled with this week was getting in our homework. This is always a struggle for the first 6 weeks, however, some of the missing assignments were incredibly important. I have allowed students to make up assignments far past the 3 day make up window, this time. The end of the 6 weeks is this Friday and any and all missing assignments will become zeros.

HOMEWORK THIS WEEK:

Homework for this week is JUST to read 20 minutes a night. Due to our District Assessment as well as early dismissal on Friday we won't be doing the Article of the Week.

Please know that typically, your student DOES have weekly homework in this class, it can be located here:

A MAJOR grade each 6 weeks is your student's Book Talk Assignment, this time the students will have the entire 6 weeks to complete this assignment, due dates can be found on my website. :

Libarary Update

Please make sure that your student is keeping up with their library book. We had several students with fines that carried over from last year who were unable to check out books at the library when we went. Our next Library Day is Oct 1, we will be returning our current books and making new selections for the 2nd 6 weeks Book Talk Assignment.

REMEMBER: STUDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR READING 20 MINUTES A NIGHT!

DO NOT FORGET WE HAVE AN EARLY DISMISSAL DAY OCT 2ND

WORK THE WILLKIE WAY!

Do we have homework?

Students should be reading 20 minutes a night minimum, as well as other assignments

What is AOW?

Starting September 14th we will have the ARTICLE OF THE WEEK. This is an article and a series of events the student needs to complete during the week for homework. It will be handed out every Monday and is due back on Friday. If the student misplaces it, or you would like to see what they are, they are listed by date on my website.

What is a Book Talk?

Book Talk happens every time we go to the library. The students pick a book and as they read it (in class, at home, etc) they are to respond to a series of questions that aid in better understanding what they have read. These are MAJOR grades and are due once a 6 weeks.
