Ms. Gabos' Newsletter

Week of Monday, February 4th

This Week in Room 508:

We will retire our sight word names and place them on our word wall. Students will practice grabbing words they need and taking them back to their seat during writer's workshop. We will talk about not taking the time to sound these words out because we already know how to spell them.
Our new math choice board will cover math fluency, ABC patterns, number sequencing by 1's, 5's and 10's, addition and subtraction to 20, identifying and describing the characteristics of 2D and 3D shapes, and number formation.

Spring Pictures

Spring Pictures are Wednesday, February 6th. We will take individual pictures as well as a class picture.

100th Day

Thank you for all of the 100th day donations. They were so helpful in making our day special! The kids had a great time exploring the number 100.

Early Release

We will have an early release day next Wednesday, February 13th. Please mark this on your calendar and I will send a more detailed schedule of our day in next week's newsletter.

Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is a low key day in Kindergarten. We will not have a party in the cafeteria with stations like we did for the Fall and Winter parties. We will have cookies and juice and celebrate within our room while opening our valentines.

Your child will need a medium-sized valentine bag for our valentine exchange. The bag can be a purchased gift bag, or one that your child has decorated. Make sure your child’s name is visibly printed on it. Each student needs to bring one valentine for everyone in the class. It would be extremely helpful if they are already assembled and filled out before they are brought to school. Yes, candy is acceptable! I will send home a reminder this week with the class list on the back so your child can write their friends' names.
