Message from the District Administrator
Anyone who attended our Board meeting last night or just saw our agenda probably noticed a considerably large number of student recognitions, some of which happened for the first time in school history! They included Braeden Scoles who won his fourth state wrestling championship (only 26 people in state history have done this), our state champion girls basketball team (the first for KSD), Jade Johnson being selected the Boys and Girls Club Youth of the Year, our state runner up co-op ski team, and Gentri Wiedmeyer, an elementary student who raised over $1,000 for the KES library. This doesn’t even include the other state-qualifying athletes, musicians, and clubs this season.
I’ve always been amazed by the incredible accomplishments that our students have demonstrated over the years. The Kewaskum School District is filled with hardworking, kind students who not only strive to be successful in academics and athletics, but constantly demonstrate what it means to be a responsible citizen and community member.
I know there’s some people who like to talk about “kids these days,” finding fault and bemoaning our future generations. But when I walk through the halls of our schools, I don’t see it. I see faces filled with positivity, resilience, and creativity. I see hands ready to work hard and help a neighbor. I see hearts open to listen and care for one another.
We most certainly want to celebrate these history-making moments, but let’s not forget that every day our students are demonstrating the types of attributes and behaviors that shows that the Kewaskum School District is filled with champion-level students.
