Principal's Pen

Hello HDES Families,

It has been a busy month of learning. Did you know that here in RSU2 everything we do connects to five tenets of learning? These are things we value and believe are important in education. The five tenets are the following:

  1. Classroom culture that encourages learner agency
  2. Clear targets in a good progression
  3. Gathering evidence to provide feedback to the target
  4. Learners engaged in learning that is in their zone of proximal development and interest
  5. Learning is applied and not simply tested.

What makes RSU2 different from other districts are these five tenets that are research-based, learner-centered, and focused on the knowledge, skills, and dispositions that learners need to be successful after they graduate.

You are always welcome to call, email or visit us to learn more about your child's progress, what's happening in class or how we are implementing the five tenets of learning.

Thank you for sharing your children with us!

Reminder for outdoor gear

If there's mud, they will find it! It is MUD SEASON in Maine and our playground is melting. We are thankful for the warmer weather, but we do not love the wetness. We definitely do our best to keep all students safe and dry at recess, but children seem to be magnets for puddles. It would be helpful if your child has indoor and outdoor shoes at school-waterproof boots for recess and sneakers or shoes for inside. Also appropriate outside gear, coats, hats, etc..are still needed. We want our students to be warm on these cold, windy, wet, spring days!

Hopefully warmer weather is on it's way soon!

Yearbooks Sales - almost final!

The 5th grade Yearbook Club students have worked hard these past few months on creating a memory book for all students at Hall-Dale Elementary! Yearbook orders are due by April 10th. Extra order forms are available in the office, or you can order online by going to this link ybpay.lifetouch.com and entering our school's yearbook ID code: 11734319.
