Virtual Learning & Professional Learning Day--Monday, October 14
Monday, October 14 will be the first of two Virtual Learning days identified by the division. We will consider this an "A" day and November 5th as a "B" day. All teachers will provide assignments to students directly while in class to help them prepare for the work that is to be completed at home. The Department of Teaching has developed curriculum-based learning assignments and templates for teachers to utilize and modify as needed. These resources give teachers the ability to adjust assignments to align with pacing and curriculum. Teachers may also create their own assignments based on student interest and needs. All VL assignments are to be designed either online or using paper and pencil at home, depending upon a student's preference and/or need. There is a five school day window for secondary students to complete assignments. Teachers will be available during the VL day to answer questions from students through email and through Schoology.
A draft of the time schedule for our PL day is as follows:
7:30 - 7:55 Coffee & Pastries Available
8:00 - 8:30 Staff meeting
8:45 - 10:45 Choice PL Sessions
11:00 - 12:00 Teachers available to students for VL assignment help
1:00 - 2:30 ILT Meeting
Please be aware that items must not be taped and or hung from the ViewSonic displays as they could cause issues with touch functionality.
PSAT Information
The PSAT will be conducted division-wide on Wednesday, October 16. All 9th, 10th and 11th grade students will participate in this PSAT testing. Seniors will participate in a presentation by our counseling department and other activities during this testing time. This year no late bus run will be available. We will not be having Advisory on October 16.
Heritage Week Display Boards
Our third annual Heritage Week will bring back the opportunity for clubs, groups, athletic teams, and grade levels, to create a large display board. It should showcase your group's “dreams” in keeping with our theme this year, "Chase Your Dreams".
We will be decorating the boards after school on Wednesday, November 6th from 2:20-5:00. The boards will be displayed around the school until the end of November. If you are interested in having your group participate, please respond to this google form: https://forms.gle/iv3G7kjFnttu9D9w9
Heritage Week Family Carnival
This year our Heritage Week Family Night will be held Wednesday, November 20th from 6-8 p.m. and will have a carnival theme. This is a time for us to invite our students and their families to an evening of fun and fellowship. Clubs and other extracurricular activities are encouraged to sign up to host games and activities, such as bingo, cornhole, duck pond, fishing, etc. Please sign up to help using this link.
