Academics for Junior/Senior High School! Wendy Diefenthaler
Mrs. Diefenthaler
Seniors!!
Decision day is MAY 1st!! Things are getting real! The count down is on! This is such an exciting time of year for our seniors. If you are heading to college in the fall you should have put a deposit down by now. Most Colleges/Universities will not save your place after May 1st if you have not committed to them with that down payment. Senior Awards night is May 31, at 6:00 in the high school auditorium, I hope to see you there!
Scholarships: There is still time to apply to different scholarships. My Weebly is still being updated almost every day! wdiefenthaler.weebly.com
John George Jr. Student Loans are ready as well. This is a private loan that you can borrow up to $6000 for four years, a total of $24000, with a 2% interest rate. Definitely a great way to help bridge the gap. http://www.johngeorge.org/
Juniors! We will be touring Jackson Community College and Spring Arbor University on May 17th! This is a great way to get on campus and learn what these local colleges have to offer. This summer is also a great time for you and your family to start making college visits. May 9th I will be meeting with Juniors to start the registration process for their Senior Year! Can you believe it is already here!
Sophomores! I will be in your English classes on May 11th to start the registration process. We also have a Jackson County Early College informational meeting on May 17th at 6:00 in the high school library. This is great way to start earning college credit towards your associates degree.
Freshman! May 12th is your day to start registering for your sophomore classes. As a sophomore you may begin working toward your college associates degree. We have a Jackson County Early College Information meeting on May 17th at 6:00 in the high school library if you would like more information.
8th Grade! I will be in your English classes on May 10th to discuss registration for high school! Can you believe that you will be entering high school in the fall! There is also a Jackson County Early College Information meeting on May 17th at 6:00 if you would like more information about starting your college career in January of your Freshman year. May 23rd there will be a trip to the Career Center for all 8th grade students. This is another opportunity when you are a junior in high school. Exciting stuff coming up.
7th Grade! May 16th is your day to sign up for 8th grade classes. Your BIG choice will be if you'd like to start earning high school credit for your World Language requirement. You may sign up for Spanish I or French I as an 8th grader.
After School Help: Wednesday and Thursday we have FREE after school help. Wednesday's our Math teacher Mr. Crawford stays after until 3:35 for drop in math tutoring and on Thursday Mrs. Wallace (English), Mr. Politowitz (science), and Mr. Parkinson (social studies) stay for all other subjects. Mrs. Ellsworth (special education) also stays on Thursday's. If you need a little extra help every now and then be sure to stop in!
Summer School, credit recovery is being designed. I will have more information about this program soon. Once I have the final dates and times I will be inviting students to attend in order to make up credits to get back on track toward graduation.
