Here we are already...
This time of year always sneaks up on me. We are just two weeks away from Spring Break and therefore only two weeks away from the end of our 3rd quarter. So much happens the last quarter of school, not the least of which are state assessments for grades 3-6. I am asking for you to communicate with your child's teacher early if you are planning for your child to be gone on any kind of a family trip. Family comes first but if we know a child is going to be gone ahead of time it makes it easier on the child to plan the make-up time.
I have to admit, I am hoping for more snow but if spring comes, let it come. It's all good here at Tustumena.
Best Wishes

Did you know that research shows that students who skip breakfast have shorter attention spans and do not do as well on tests. Please make sure your child gets up in time to have breakfast either at home or school. You could serve oatmeal with bananas or tuck scrambled eggs into a pita pocket for a quick healthy breakfast. Also, please limit the amount of juice your child drinks. A 12 ounce glass of juice can have 10 teaspoons of sugar – that is the same amount of sugar in a can of soda. Encourage your child to drink water. If you choose juice, choose ones marked 100 percent juice and stay away from those labeled “fruit juice” or “fruit cocktail”. Orange juice is a good choice because it has lots of natural vitamin C and less sugar. Let’s work together to keep our kids healthy and set them up for a successful school day!
If you have any questions or need to speak with me, I am at Tustumena Elementary every Tuesday and Wednesday 845 am – 345 pm. Please feel free to call or stop in to discuss your needs.
