Describing a Room in ASL

The steps to doing it right

Identify the room. It can be the living room, dining room, etc. Before going to the other steps, make sure you enter the room. Once you do this, you sign from your perspective.

Describe the shape of the room. It can be square, oval, or an odd shape, but make sure you sign in your perspective.

Sign the objects in the room in a logical order. Usually, you sign the most prominent thing in the room, and sign things off of that. For example sign couch, then sign the objects next to the couch, and so on. You can also sign it left to right, or right to left.
