Dear parents and friends of our school Kia Ora/Bora Da/Konichi Wa/Hello
WORKING AT ALERT LEVEL 2
Kia ora Koutou
We have had a fabulous return to school. Our school has been a calm and happy place to reconnect with our class mates, teachers and support staff. Thank you so much to our school community for your support whilst operating at Alert Level 2.
The overriding principles for Alert Level 2 remain the same:
to minimise the risk that someone gets infected in the first place
to ensure we can identify and contact anyone who has been in close contact with a person, if someone in a school or early learning centre is infected
understand that Level 2 is not business as usual
A few reminders and updates that take effect from June:
Entering and Exiting school
- Children must wash their hands before coming to school.
- It is our preference that children are dropped off at school between 8.30 and 8.45 if not catching the bus.We realise that for some families this is not possible.
- At the end of the day the following organisation will apply:
BUS CHILDREN
- At 3.00pm children must leave their school bags outside their classroom and collect their bag at 3.20 when the bus bell goes and walk to the bus shelter. Bus children are not allowed in the shelter until this time
NON BUS CHILDREN
Rooms 1 and 2 will be walked to the bus shelter by their classroom teacher at 2.50pm. Siblings will leave at this time as well.
Rooms 3 - 6 will walk to the bus shelter at 3.00
Parents
- Parents are still discouraged from entering the school grounds at this time. We would prefer you to drop off and collect your children at the bus shelter. This means that you are to wait in your car or outside the bus shelter gate, whilst maintaining 2m physical distancing.
- If you need to come into school we require you to ring first or make contact with your child's classroom teacher. When parents enter the school they must sign in. Parents to bring their own pen. Parents must park out the front of the school. Adults must keep a 2m distance. Parents to do only what is required and leave immediately.
- We have a new function on our School App that allows parents to sign in when entering the school without having to come to the office. Information about this is further down in our newsletter. When we see parents on site we will ask if you have signed in. If you have used the School App we will ask for proof that have you have signed in. You can do this by showing the School App check in screen. Contact tracing is still an important part of Alert Level 2.
- If parents want to collect their children outside of the pick up times they must ring ahead and wait at the gate for their child to meet them.
Alert Level 2 Health & Safety Plan
Our updates that take effect from June can be found on our school website - Alert Level 2 Health & Safety Plan. This includes a lot more detail about our entire plan. If after reading this you have any further questions please give us a call or email your questions to: principal@toko.school.nz

STAY AT HOME IF SICK
If your child is unwell or displays any of the following symptoms you must keep them away from school:
Symptoms we wil monitor for are: any respiratory symptoms such as a cold, a head cold, blocked ears, cough, sneezing, chills and a fever.
Anyone with those symptoms should stay home and contact Healthline for advice, which may include getting tested for COVID-19 as a precaution.
Anyone with these respiratory symptoms should not enter our school.
Teachers will be expected to monitor the health of the children in their class. If we believe your child is becoming unwell you will be called to collect your child from school.
If your child is going to be absent from school please make sure you contact the school via the SCHOOL APP before 9.00am each day.
We realise that there will be times when your child will have to stay away from school but are actually well enough to engage with their school learning. All children from Year 3 - 8 can access their school learning from home.
In Years 1 - 2 if chidren are unwell we believe that your child should enjoy the extra time at home and engage with whatever interests them.
