Why Kata Tjuta is Sacred?

Kata Tjuta was named after the Queen of Spain this is why they are also called the Olgas, this happened in 1872. The Aborigines, are the people that have been there since the beginning of their time.

They believe that Mt. Olga is the home of the snake Wanambi. They say that when the snake Wanambi gets angry he can create a giant hurricane. They also say that during the rainy season he stays curled up at the top of the mountain on the summit. And in the dry seasons he stays in the gorge and lives in various caves.

Short Description

There are 36 domes at Kata Tjuta that could be as many as 500 million years old. Kata Tjuta stands for "Many Heads." The Aborigines are the original people from Kata Tjuta and have been there for many years. Kata Tjuta is also known as the Olgas. It can also be referred to as Kings Canyon.

Short History

Ever since the beginning of time the Aborigines have lived at Kata Tjuta. And the entire time they have lived there they have had the legend of the snake Wanambi. The Aborigines believed in this very much and they say that the south-western part of Kata Tjuta is where the poisonous snake men live. The poisonous snake men are called the Liru. The Liru are said to make camp then go out to kill little carpet snakes in Uluru.

The eastern part of Kata Tjuta is where Malu is and the Aborigines call him the kangaroo man. They say that Malu is the one who is dying and suffering from cuts and wounds created by things called dingoes. Trying to find information on dingoes was nearly impossible there is little to none when I went to see what they were and how they could hurt people so there's nothing I can tell about these creatures.
