The Crawford Chronicle
March 2023
Dear Crawford Families,
I know we say this every newsletter, but time is really flying by this school year. This Friday, March 10 marks the end of the 3rd quarter. You can always check your student's progress on Infinite Campus at:
https://fayetteky.infinitecampus.org/campus/portal/parents/fayette.jsp. Please contact teachers about any missing assignments to make sure content has been mastered and to help improve grades.
As a reminder, students are expected to lock their phones and other electronic devices in their lockers during morning arrival. We do not want to confiscate devices. We would prefer students follow the expectation. However, students who do not follow the expectation will have to turn their device in until the end of the day to an administrator. They will be returned during dismissal.
We have many assessments coming up this spring, including the third round of MAP testing in April, and the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) in May. We will send more information home to families as these dates get closer.
Please make sure you watch Mr. Jones' message included below.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jones, Mrs. Piatt, and Mr. Taylor

"All Star" Reward Over 40% of our student body (305 students) earned the "All Star" Reward for the 2nd quarter. These students come to school every day and exemplify the Crawford Creed. | "All Star" Reward To earn "All Star" status, students must have a 95% or higher eOS average, no focus or office referrals, no tardies, and no negative taps for an entire nine week period. They were invited to the gym to watch a movie on Mr. Booker's blow up screen to recognize their efforts. | KSU Choir Performance On February 24, 2023, a representation of the Kentucky State University Choir performed for our school, under the direction of Dr. Lloyd Mallory. |

Governor Jacqueline Coleman. | Trip to Frankfort The students also got to meet Representative Cherylynn Stevenson who represents District 88 for the state of Kentucky. District 88 encompasses some of the neighborhoods where Crawford students live. | Principal's Student Advisory Group Mr. Jones meets with his student advisory group monthly to discuss what they like about school, concerns they have, and to develop solutions to make Crawford the best it can be. These students were selected by their teachers to represent our student population. |

NTI for Weather
During the 2022-2023 school year, Fayette County Public Schools has the option of using NTI (non-traditional instruction) in place of traditional closings or delays due to severe weather.
A traditional school closing due to severe weather means school buildings are closed, afternoon activities are cancelled, students have the day off and the time may be made up or added to the current school year's calendar. On an NTI weather day, school buildings are still closed and afternoon activities are still cancelled, but students participate in learning at home, so it counts as a school day and will not need to be made up or added to the calendar.
On NTI weather days, student work will be posted to Canvas, but no live instruction or classes will be held. Teachers will hold office hours from 10:30 am-12:30 pm, with an office hour link posted on their Canvas page.

Morning Arrival and Afternoon Dismissal
Students are welcomed into the building starting at 8:35 a.m. Please note that students dropped off prior to 8:35 a.m. may sit on the front or back porch, however, there is no adult supervision. Upon entering the building, they will have the option to eat breakfast before reporting to their homeroom class. First period begins at 9:05 a.m at which time students will be considered tardy to school.
Car riders must be dropped off on the front side of our building (the football field side). Please follow all staff directing traffic and have your student exit from the right side of the vehicle.
Walkers may enter through the front or back entrance, whichever is closest on their route.
- When driving on campus, please drive slowly and follow directions of the staff.
Our dismissal process will begin at 3:55 p.m. Please be patient as we release smaller groups of students to the buses, cars, and to walk home to limit the number of students in the hallways.
Car riders must be picked up on the front side of our building (the football field side). Please pull all the way around the loop, drive forward to the stop sign, and have your student enter through the right side of the vehicle.
Walkers are dismissed last to keep them safe from the car rider and bus traffic on campus. Walkers may exit through the front or back entrance, whichever is closest on their route.
- When driving on campus, please drive slowly and follow directions of the staff.
Read our full transportation procedures by clicking the green button below.

Please review the information in this document so that we can keep our students, families, and staff safe on campus.
Families can enter in their home address to see their children's bus stops, bus numbers, and pickup times. Note: Routes are subject to change anytime, especially during the first few months of school.
