News and Information
AMI: What is an AMI (Alternate Method of Instruction) Day?
If there were to be a "snow" day this year, students would continue to learn from home by having an AMI day. As we approach the winter months, we want to share our school's plan for what learning will be on an AMI day.
The state allocated five AMI (alternative methods of instruction) distance learning days, which means that on bad weather days, all students will learn from home from 9 a.m. to 3:40 p.m. On the sixth bad-weather day, we will call a snow day, which would mean all students, even Park Hill Online Academy students, will not have school.
Mrs. Kalis will email ALL Renner families at 8:00am to let them know that they and their students will receive communication from their child's classroom teacher no later than 9:00 am. Your student's teacher will communicate learning plans for the day, including any times for zoom meetings and the specific learning plan for your students. For more information, see details at the link HERE.

Attendance & Tardies
Birthday Treat Guidelines
Because of food and labor shortages, our Nutrition Services department can no longer provide birthday treats.
We will start allowing families to send birthday treats if they want to do so, as long as they come from our list of treats that contain none of the major allergens.
Please bring birthday treats ahead of time (two hours after the start of school, at the latest).
Thank you for understanding that all classroom treats must come from this list, because we do not have the staff capacity to check for allergens that could threaten the health of some students.

COVID-19 Vaccines for Students
Officials from the FDA and the CDC approved Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for children between five and 11 years old, so we will partner with the Platte County Health Department to provide a vaccination clinic for those families who want the vaccine for their children.
Now that it's possible to get our younger students vaccinated, we can start looking at potential updates to our health and safety precautions, depending on the level of cases in our area.
Dates:
For families who choose to participate, the clinic for the first dose would be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 20 at Congress Middle School. The clinic for the second dose would be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 11 at Congress. The students would be considered fully vaccinated on Dec. 25.
Eligibility:
To get a vaccine at this clinic, the child must be a Park Hill School District or St. Therese School student and must be between five and 11 years old. The health department will not have any of the doses for older children or adults at this clinic.
Sign-Ups:
The Platte County Health Department has an online sign-up form. Families who want to participate should sign their children up ahead of time. During the final hour of the clinic, if there are any doses left, they might be able to help walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
Assistance:
If you need help filling out the sign-up form or need any other assistance to be able to participate, contact social worker Leah Frame.
Pediatricians:
Several local pediatricians will attend the clinics to be on hand if families have any questions.
Entertainment and Support:
High-school student volunteers from the A+ program will be available to help entertain and support the younger children while they wait for 15 minutes after the vaccination.
Curriculum Connections for November
Check out the linked Curriculum Connections below to see what our Roadrunners will be working on in each subject area in November! We want to share the learning topics at all of the grade levels so that you are familiar with what topics and content are taught this month! Your child's teacher is always happy to provide more details should you have questions!

Miles of Smiles
Miles of Smiles is a non-profit dental clinic who provides dental services to children within schools and at their dental office in Gladstone, MO. Miles of Smiles will be at Renner in December 2021. If you would like you child to receive an initial dental examination and cleaning, please complete the online registration form found here: Patient Info — LevelUp Kids, Inc. (levelupkidsinc.org). If completing a paper copy of the registration form is easier, please continue checking your child’s AVID binder as a paper copy will soon be going home with every student. Should you complete a paper copy, please have your child return it to their teacher.
Upon completion of an initial dental examination, if the Miles of Smiles staff find that more comprehensive dental work is needed, legal guardians will be notified. Options to complete the more comprehensive dental work will be discussed and may include the work being done at school, at the Miles of Smiles Gladstone dental office or by referral to a local dental specialist.
Miles of Smiles is a wonderful opportunity to support the dental and overall health of our students and we hope they can partner with your family if needed! Please contact the Renner School Social Worker, Tara Davis, if you have any questions. Mrs. Davis’ contact info is: EMAIL - davist@parkhill.k12.mo.us OFFICE - 816.359.5547.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Thank you for attending your child's conference! We had a 93% attendance rate. If you were unable to attend, please reach out to your child's teacher to learn about your child's progress.
Park Hill Clothing Center: Volunteers Needed
The Park Hill Clothing Center would like to thank all of the families who have contributed to our facility.
Sign-Up to Shop (the clothes are free) HERE
Volunteers are greatly needed! We have been fortunate to have received numerous donations, however we’ve had a difficult time hanging up all of the incoming clothes. There are two sign up genius links for volunteers:
- Sign Up Genius 1 is for the 2-4 pm timeslot every Tuesday that doesn't have shoppers present.
- Sign Up Genius 2 is for the Tuesday 10-12pm and 5-7pm slots when shoppers will be there. When shoppers are present we can't have students helping due to confidentiality.
Park Hill Star
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District. If you would like to recognize them for all they do for our students, please click on "Nominate a Park Hill Star" button below.
Picture Retakes
If your student was absent on the first Fall Picture Day or is a new student AND you still need to place an order, you can go to https://inter-state.com/flyerentry and enter code: 59375B
If you were not happy with your student's fall pictures, please send the picture packet you received with all of the picture sheets enclosed with your student to school on Thursday, November 18th. They will need to give the packet to the photographer. If you originally never ordered and just received the second chance proof it is not necessary to bring that back.
PTA
Joining Renner PTA is a terrific opportunity to support our school! Please visit the Renner PTA Website for membership info. We look forward to working together to make Renner the best it can be!
Next Meeting: November 18 @ 6:00 PM through Microsoft Teams
Recess Reminder
The cold weather is upon us! Just a friendly reminder that students are expected to go out for recess each day. Appropriate clothing and shoes should be worn for outside activities. On days when the temperature and/or wind chill is above 20 degrees Fahrenheit and the playground is cleared of snow and ice, there will be outdoor recess.
Please put your child's name on their winter clothing (coats, gloves, hats, etc..). This will help us return your child's lost clothing to them quickly! Due to COVID-19, we will not let our Lost and Found closet fill up as much as we have in the past which means we will make more frequent donations to the Park Hill Clothing Center.
Renner Spirit Wear
Special Family Request
Thank you to the Timpe Family for their donation of South Dakota State University items!
