TKAM Project- Scout
By Avery Goforth
Symbol
Scout stands up for Atticus by talking to Mr. Cunningham when the mob of men were trying to get into the police station, "Well, Atticus, I was just sayin' to Mr. Cunningham that entailments are bad an' all that, but you said not to worry, it takes a long time sometimes..." (Lee 205)
Traits
Scout is adventurous on that fact that she doesn't always follow all the rules. She goes with her gut and isn't like most girls. I love that she's so different, and while the others girls in Maycomb are learning manners and quietly walking around in dresses, Scout's big adventurous personality makes her Scout. In chapter 9 Scout almost starts a fight with Cecil Jacobs and says, "My fists were clenched and I was ready to let fly." (Lee 99). Scout took a big risk by almost punching him, and that's pretty adventurous.
2. Courageous
Even though Scout is the youngest and just a little girl, she is very courageous. She isn't afraid to say what she thinks, or do what she thinks is right. She stands up for others and follows her own heart, and you have to be brave to do that. She is her own free spirit. Since Cecil Jacobs made fun of black people and she thought that was wrong, she courageously yelled at him, "' YOU CAN JUST take that back, boy!'" (Lee 99)
