What Will We Be Learning This Week?

Students are continuing to practice long division. They are learning to use the inverse operation (multiplication) to check their quotients. Next week we will begin problems involving remainders and talk about what those remainders mean.

We will take a break from Accelerated Math for the two day week next week. The next day I will check for mastered objectives it Thursday, December 3rd.

We are continuing our unit on Electricity. I have included photos of students creating circuits in Block 2. We will be discussing conductors and insulators next week. They are enjoying this unit very much.

Language Arts

Over the next week or so we will be completing a narrative writing assignment, basically a fictional story from the students' imaginations.

After Thanksgiving Break we will be starting up our guided reading groups again where students will be reading books on their own reading levels with a focus on various ELA standards. The first focus will be inferencing and referring back to the text for textual evidence.

We will not have spelling lists the week of Thanksgiving. They will resume the week after break.

Social Studies

We will not have an NC Studies Weekly again until after we return from Thanksgiving Break. When we return we will be learning about the Europeans who explored our area during the 16th century.

Odds & Ends

Happy Thanksgiving!

This will be the last weekly newsletter that we send out until after Thanksgiving Break. We hope that you all have a wonderful and safe Thanksgiving!
