Sexton Mountain Elementary

June 2019

Principal's Note

Summer is in two short weeks. This has been a wonderful year at Sexton Mountain. Thank you for all your support and kind words. I have enjoyed my first year tremendously. The end of the year is an opportunity to reflect on what went well and areas to improve on. I will spend this summer reviewing data & notes and preparing for the 2019-2020 school year. The district has given us two additional teachers, and we are looking forward to reducing the class size in Fourth and Fifth grade next year.

Be sure to check out the school supply list posted on our new Website. The first day of school for 2019-2020 will be September 3 for students 1-5 and Kindergarten students with last name beginning with the letter A-L. Kindergarten students with the last names beginning with M-Z will start on September 4th. All students will be at school on September 5th. You will receive an email with the name of your child's teacher the last week of August. Have a wonderful summer! Don't forget to make time to read.

Thank you to all our volunteers!

Your time and talents are greatly appreciated.

Summer reading challenge!

The best way to keep your brain in shape over the summer is to READ, READ, READ! Sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge at the Beaverton Library. The Library will send Sexton Mountain a list of students who participated. I will recognize students at the first assembly of the school year and each student will receive a new reading charm to go on their Sparky necklace.

Family Picnic Lunch- Thursday, June 13th

Join your student for a picnic lunch (Regular time) in the field. Little siblings are welcome. But, insurance does not allow them to play on the equipment during school hours. Please come a few minutes early to sign in with the office. If it turns out to be a rainy day, we will move the picnic inside to the cafeteria.
