A Message from Mrs. Caudill

Throughout our classrooms both in person and virtually, I see Amerman as a community of learners. We (students, staff, parents) can all make a difference and we each have the power to impact the world around us. Our school successes are made possible through partnerships with you, our parents and community. Thank you for all that you do to support your child through their story of learning this year and beyond!

Be well,

Devon Caudill

Gift Crowd

The PTA is happy to announce we have opened our Gift Crowd Link for the Amerman staff. This is a simple and wonderful way to give a gift to the Amerman staff during the holidays. Simply click the link and submit your gift amounts, Gift crowd will then pool the contributions together for each staff member and they will be able to choose from a variety of gift cards. This link will be open until Saturday 12/19 at 7 AM. Reach out to amermanpresident@gmail.com with any questions. Happy Giving!

UPDATED SYMPTOM SCREENING TOOL AND REMINDER

As we prepare for our return to in-person learning, please remember to screen your child each morning before school. The Wayne County Health Department has revised the COVID-19 Daily Student Symptom Screening Tool* based on guidance from MDHHS as we enter into the cold and flu season. The revised tool separates symptoms into two categories and asks if you have any new, unusual or worsening symptoms in those categories. Additionally, the form asks if you have been in close contact with anyone that is positive. If any response is yes, you must keep your child home and contact your school to report any symptoms and the absence. It is critical that children are screened at home EACH MORNING before coming to school. This process is what helps keep our students and staff safe in school and a primary contributor to allowing us to continue in-person learning for students.

*Important Note: The Wayne County Screening Tool is a COVID Symptom Screener, which is required in addition to, rather than in place of, the District's standard health requirements. Please DO NOT send children who are sick with a fever, are vomiting, have a rash, or any other evidence of illness to school. Students may not return to school following any illness until they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without use of fever reducing medications, or longer if subject to continued quarantine based on COVID guidelines.

December Focus: Persevere! Habit 3: Put First Things First

Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of December is Persevere and our Habit of the Month is Habit 3: Put First Things First

Putting first things first means organizing and executing around your most important priorities. It is living and being driven by the principles you value most, not by the agendas and forces surrounding you. One of the best ways to incorporate Habit 3 is to think about those “first things” as all those things that value the most in your life. So, you should manage your schedule according to your priorities to get all essential things done on time.

If you would like to recognize your child for being proactive or using Habit 3: put First Things First at home, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.

Additionally, this year, on the back of the white envelopes being sent home, you will find our monthly Amerman Leader In Me calendar. We have included this as a resource for families to help bridge the home-school connection. Each month, you will see what habit is being taught, what personal trait in being highlighted, and conversation starters for you and your child. I have attached several pictures below for your convenience. You do not need to sign it each month but hope that it helps your child communicate how they are learning to live a balanced and healthy life inside and outside of school.
