Week of June 5, 2020
Every Day, Every Child, Whatever It Takes
At Lakeside Elementary our mission is to provide diverse opportunities for learning as appropriate for each student to become productive members of society.
Mrs. Smith’s Snapchat…
Good evening Lakeside families,
Student material pick up went well this week but we still have quite a few items remaining. If you have items in need of pick up from school still, including medication, you will need to contact me, Mrs. Smith at 532-2853 or email at jsmith6@warren.k12.in.us no later than 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 10th to arrange for a time for pick up. We will recycle any materials that remain in our buildings starting Thursday, June 11th.
Also, just another reminder that grade level summer learning packets are now being mailed to all students in grades K-8. These packets will focus on essential math and reading skills as well as social-emotional skills. Students will receive an incentive for completing their packet upon returning it to school in the fall.
Our current food outreach program will remain the same for the month of June. Tuesdays and Fridays from 11 AM - 1 PM, and Wednesday from 5:30 - 7:00. Visit our website for locations.
Given our current health environment, I know there is some concern regarding the status of Back to School and what that will look like. Please know that our district is carefully monitoring the situation to ensure we make the best decisions for the start of the school year and will be communicating with you throughout the summer as we have Back to School information to share.
Thank you and please take care of yourselves.
Your proud principal,
Janie Smith
A Message from Dr. Hanson
This is Dr. Tim Hanson, Superintendent of Schools for MSD Warren Township. I would like to take a moment to express my support for those who are affected by the recent events in our community and nationally. As a district, we will continue to create a culture of diversity, equity, and belonging for our students, schools, and community.
Congratulations to all of our students for finishing the 2019-20 school year strong, especially our senior class of 2020! Our virtual graduation commencement will be held on Saturday, June 13th at 7 PM. More details, including the link, will be shared next week. Mr. Shepler and the graduation committee finalized plans for an in-person recognition to be held at the Warren Performing Arts Center on June 16th, 17th, and 18th. See our Graduation Page on the high school website for more information.
Families with school-age children will be receiving a Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer or P-EBT Card in the mail from the Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA). Since MSD Warren Township is a Community Eligibility Provision district where all students receive free breakfast and lunch, all families will receive this benefit card and do not need to apply formally. Families will receive one benefit card per eligible child. Please note that the cards may arrive at different times. If you have questions regarding this benefit, please contact the Division of Family Resources at 800-403-0864.
We are making registration for the 20-21 school year more accessible and available for families. If you are currently enrolled in a Warren school, your information will be transferred to the next grade level and you do not need to re-register. For new families, we are currently accepting registrations for all grades for next school year. Online registration details can be found on our website by selecting Registration under the Explore tab. Additionally, we will be offering centralized on-site registration and for families to update their information at select locations from 9 AM - 5 PM Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the summer as outlined below:
Warren Central High School - June 16th & 23rd, July 7th & 14th
Stonybrook Intermediate/Middle School - June 18th & July 9th
Liberty Park Elementary - June 25th & July 16th
Please note, students of any grade level or school can be registered for the 20-21 school year at these locations. You can contact our hotline at 317-608-0545 with online registration needs.
Thank you for your ongoing support for MSD Warren Township schools and students.

SCHOOL DISTRICT PUBLICATIONS/NEWS MEDIA USE
The occasion may arise when the school district wants to recognize your child or your child's school. This may include your child's photo, your child's name or your child's work in district publications, newsletters, on school district websites, and in electronic/social media or in staff training videos. We may also want to tell the media (including newspapers, television, and radio) about your child's achievements. We never knowingly release information about a student to anyone who wants to use it for commercial/political purposes. However, we will honor your request to not include your child in these types of recognitions if you notify your child's school office in writing that you do not want this type of information released.
