Placerita Jr. High School - February 28, 2021
This Week at Placerita 2.28.21 / Esta semana en Placerita 2.28.21
Good Evening Placerita Families…
Welcome to March already… It seems like we just started January.
The most important part of the newsletter is right here in the first section tonight. I know you all have heard a lot of different information about returning to school in the near future. We all have been wanting to return for a long time but we may have the best possibility of that happening in a few weeks. If you heard the superintendent’s message at the last board meeting he covered a lot of information about our plan to return. If you missed it, you can view his presentation below in the video.
The very short version of where we are right now is that the earliest that we could return is on March 22nd. If the numbers in LA County do not allow that, we will be looking each week for them to change. If we do return in the next few weeks we will be returning to a Cohort A / Cohort B schedule like we talked about back in the fall. If your student is in Cohort A they would attend school on Monday and Tuesday and then be online Wednesday-Friday. If your student is in Cohort B they would attend school on Thursday and Friday and be online Monday-Wednesday. If your student is Online Only they would attend the same way we have been attending all year. The schedule will have a few small changes but hopefully we will be able to keep it very similar to what it currently is.
If you have forgotten what Cohort your student is in please look for an email that will be coming to you around 7:00 PM tonight that will tell you where your student is currently assigned. If everything looks correct you do not have to do anything. If you need to change something there is a link to a form in the email that you can complete to request a change.
We will be sharing more information about plans to return each week and possibly sometime in the middle of the week if needed. Our seventh graders need an opportunity to visit campus and be able to walk around and find their classes before we return. We are working on a plan to do that so they will feel more comfortable on that first day back. We will let you know when those plans are complete.
We are still having our regular book drop off this week if you have found one of our novels please follow the instructions in the book return section below.
Have a good week!
Mr. Turner

Sr. Turner

Very Important Information about our Book Returns / Información muy importante sobre nuestras devoluciones de libros
We know that we are in a very difficult time to keep up with all our books and being able to make the time to return them. However, we have some classes that will not be able to provide the reading materials for students if we do not get all our books back so we can turn around and check them out to a different group of students. Another thing to remember is that missing textbook situations stay on your transcript all the way through High School and are one of the things that can create serious problems down the road (like High School diplomas being held or transcripts not being released... Yikes!) so please help us collect all these so we can continue to serve all students with reading materials. Thanks for your help with this. Note the information below...
1. Any student who has any of the following novels needs to return them the week of 2/28, if possible:
Stargirl
Invisible Lines
Freak the Mighty
The Color of my Words
The Giver
Peak
(The first four novels were checked out to 7th graders either in August or for 2nd quarter. The final two novels were checked out to 8th graders at the same times.)
2. Books may be returned to the front office between the hours of 7:30 AM and 2:45 PM. There will be a cart up front for collections.
3. The library will be sending out overdue notices to students and parents. The note will show what is overdue and the replacement cost if the item has been lost.
Thank you!

Freak the Mighty
El color de mis palabras
El dador
Pico
¡Gracias!
