Principal’s Message
Cavett Families,
Welcome back and Happy New Year! I hope everyone had a wonderful winter break with loved ones. It's hard to believe we are already at second semester and at the half-way point. We have accomplished a lot during the first half of the year, and it's not going to slow down.
Teachers will be focusing on highly leveraged standards which students in 3rd-5th grade will be assessed on in April. For your child to get the most instruction and consistency in learning it is vital that they are in school and on time, every day.
Mark your calendars for two important dates as there is no school on these days! The first is Monday, January 15th, as we observe Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. The second day is January 24th. This is a professional learning day for all TUSD staff so students will not be on campus.
Another important date is Wednesday, January 17th is picture day. The Hots Shots Photography will start shortly after the bell. Don’t be late.
Don't forget to register your student for the upcoming school year. The online registration is open in your ParentVue account. Please log in to register as soon as possible. Registering early helps us determine how many teachers we will need for following school year, student placements, and planning.
Last, please consider Cavett for your Tax Credit donations. Any money you donate will be used exclusively for Cavett and you can decide how you want us to use it. You can choose fine arts, field trips, sports, etc. We appreciate any and all donations.
Warmest Regards,
Carol Leeson

Cavett Eagle Student of the Month
This month’s focus is Empathy. One way to think about Empathy is “understanding and connecting with other people’s feelings.” Empathy is a practice that can help us grow strong relationships. Empathy is 1 of 3 traits we will focus on throughout the year that helps students Be Kind. Throughout the school, students will be developing skills like perspective-taking, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Cell Phones
We have seen a lot of usage of cell phones and air pods during the school day. Please remind your student that if they bring their phone, air pods, smart watches etc. they need to keep it in their pocket or backpack, and we are not responsible for items lost or stolen. Students are not allowed to use electronics during class, passing period, etc. Students seen using electronics without permission will have items confiscated. You may view the TUSD Policy here.
Parent Dismissal
We are using the FetchKids Dismissal application. We will not release students before 2:30. School is out at 2:40. We will not walk your students across the street. You must park and can wait in the front of the school for your student to arrive. Please be mindful of the car line. It does not matter how old you are, no one likes it when someone cuts in front of the line. The dismissal line goes fast once we get started. Thank you for your patience.
Homework Help
Homework help is in the library every morning from 7:00—8:00 am.
