Weekly Warrior Update
Student Focused-World Class
Weekly Warrior Update:
Dear Warrior Families,
What a great first week of school we have had at Sevier! Thank you to all of our students and families for all your efforts in helping us have a fantastic week! Students have demonstrated outstanding effort as they have acclimated to being back at school! Our 6th graders have learned their way around the building and act like pros! What a great Warrior family we have!
Goal Number One for Kingsport City Schools is to provide world-class curriculum and instruction for our students. We believe that using instructional technology as a key part of the learning process is critical in achieving that goal. We take seriously our role in educating tomorrow's workforce. We live in a technological age. In order to best prepare our students to be college and workforce ready, we understand the importance of supporting our students now in using technology as a part of the learning process.
We will be deploying Chromebooks to all sixth graders THIS Wednesday, August 10th. Parents of sixth graders, please come to the JSMS library any time between 7:00am and 6:00 pm this Wednesday to pick up your child's Chromebook. We ask that all families sign a Responsible Use Policy, a Google Apps for Education form and pay the $50 Technology fee (checks can be made out to JSMS). These forms, as well as an FAQ regarding the technology fee, are attached to this email.
We deployed laptops to all 7th and 8th graders who had turned in their laptops for the summer and to all day users last week. If your child is a day user and you would like for them to begin taking their laptop home (and you have already signed the RUP), please send the $50 Technology fee to the office with your child, or come by the JSMS office and we can make that change.
This week, we will have our first home football game at J. Fred Johnson Stadium as the Warriors play Crockett. Come support our mighty Warrior Team at 6:00 for JV and at 7:00 for Varsity. The theme of the night is Spirit Night! If you have not already purchased Sevier t-shirts, PTA will be selling this year's Spirit t-shirt for $10.00 on Thursday morning before school! Go Warriors!
Here's looking forward to another great week at John Sevier!
Proud to be a Warrior,
Holly Flora

All students at the following schools can get a healthy breakfast and lunch at school for NO-COST in the 2016-17 school year: Sevier Middle School, Jackson Elementary, Roosevelt Elementary, Johnson Elementary, Kennedy Elementary and Lincoln Elementary.
Our qualifying schools are getting no-cost meals for all students as part of the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and School Breakfast Program (SBP) through a choice for schools called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP).
I hope this is something you can help us communicate to the families at your schools. Please see the attached letter that will be included in Elementary and Middle School Packets that go home with students the first day of school. Also attached is a flier that explains CEP in more detail.
