Each week one learner in every class will be selected by the designer to be the "LEEder of the Week." Students will be selected by who showed the "Leadership Quality of the Week" best that week.
LEE LIFE PRINCIPLE:
Accountability - Being responsible for one’s actions
LESSON IN LEADERSHIP:
If you are asked a question in conversation, you should ask a question in return. It is only polite to show others that you are just as interested in them as they are in you.
LEE QUOTE OF THE WEEK:
“I am NOT a product of my circumstances. I AM a product of my decisions.” -Stephen Covey

What we are learning:
READING & WRITING
In Reading this week, we started our Nonfiction unit. Learners are learning ways how nonfiction texts become increasingly complex and understanding those complexities. We also started our new read aloud book, Prairie Lotus by Linda Sue Park. This is the 2020 Global Read Aloud Book.
Math
In Math, learners represent quotients of decimals up to the hundredths, up to four-digit dividends and two-digit whole number divisors, using objects and pictorial models, including area models. They also worked on solving quotients of decimals using strategies and algorithms including the standard algorithm.
SCIENCE
In Science, learners completed the Science MAP assessment this week. Also, learners were also able to communicate and demonstrate the properties of matter through multi activities.
SOCIAL STUDIES
In social studies this week, learners read and worked on a timeline of events leading to the American Revolution.

Important Information
Istation: At the beginning of every month, learners will take their monthly Istation assessments. They know the routine for this - there are 4 parts to this assessment - Vocabulary, Spelling, Comprehension (reading a story & answering questions), and Fluency. It is very important that you DO NOT assist your learner with this assessment.
Student Zoom Sign In Update: Please make sure that learners log into ZOOM with their g.coppellisd.com accounts starting on Monday, August 31st. If you would like more information, please view this website.
Here is a step by step guide on how to complete this action
Updating Learner I-Pads:
An update is available for the learner’s iPad for iOS14. If the software is not updated on district iPads, some of the apps that have purchased may not continue to work properly. The update is available for if you go to SETTINGS, go to GENERAL, touch SOFTWARE UPDATE, touch DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL. It will take about 10-20 minutes. Please have your learners update their iPads by Monday, October 12th.
Leadership Council Elections:
It is time that we determine who our LEEdership Council member will be. A learner from each classroom will be nominated and elected into this position. Candidates will prepare a short speech and may not spend more than $5 on marketing for their campaign. This is an excellent way to practice the democratic process, public speaking, and risk-taking. Please remember that those who have already served on LEEdership Council before are tasked with seeing the leadership capacity in others and should not rerun for a position. Please let your designer know by October 15th if you are interested in running. Elections will be held on Friday, October 16th.
First Nine Weeks Report Cards:
The last day of the first grading period is Friday Oct. 9. Learners in 4th-12th grade will have their report card information available in the Home Access System (HAC) at https://hac.coppellisd.com by the end of the day Friday, Oct. 16. Parents and guardians who need help with a HAC password should fill out a Help Desk ticket at www.coppellisd.com/helpdesk.
Schoology: As we continue with virtual learning, Schoology is a very important tool during this time. We know some of our learners are using the app, but it is best for them to use the web-based version: https://schoology.coppellisd.com/
Learners need to make sure they are completing and submitting all of their work for each course since that is how we are taking attendance. In addition, although online learning is taking place at home, learners should be starting and finishing their work on their own as they would in-person at school.
Lee Specials Quarterly Newsletter: Our specials team puts out a newsletter each week. Check it out!
Box Tops: Did you know you can SCAN Box Tops and earn money for our school with items you already purchase for your home? Learn more about this quick and easy way to help our school.
