During Love week, February 13th-17th, S.P.A.R.K.S. (Olson’s Student Council) will sell blow pops for $.25 before school inside the school entrances to support the Love Week Recipient, Allen Community Outreach (all proceeds go directly to the organization).

Love Week

Love Week is February 13th-17th. Love Week is a week-long service project sponsored by the Allen High School. Each year a member of an organization within our community that faces a need is chosen as the LOVE WEEK recipient.

This year’s recipient is Allen Community Outreach (ACO). Allen Community Outreach provides a wide variety of services and programs to support families.

All funds raised during Love Week will be used to benefit Allen Community Outreach (ACO). There are various forms of fundraising this year, including purchasing Love Week items, “The $1 Donation Campaign,” and spirit nights at local restaurants each night of the week.

Love Week Theme Days:

Monday – Decade of Support – wear decade clothing (70’s, 80’s, 90’s, etc.)

Tuesday – Celebrate Supporting Our Community – wear your favorite holiday clothing (Valentine’s Day, Easter, etc.)

Wednesday – Dream of a Caring Community – wear pajamas

Thursday – Help your Community Succeed – dress as your future career

Friday – Love Your Community – wear Love Week shirt, or red or pink - $1 Donation Day

PROJECT SPLASH

This semester we’ve kicked off a fun new program called Project Splash. Through Project Splash, all students will be assigned to a “House” with a unique color and a specific character trait. Please view this video - starring some of our Otters - for more information.

March 16 starting at 4:30pm on each individual Middle School Campus. Must tryout out at the MS Campus the student is zoned to attend.

I am available to students for a variety of needs and they are welcome to see me any time they need. I am also available to help parents. Please reach out to me any time with questions or concerns.

Friendship is spending time with someone you trust and enjoy, and accepts you as you are.

Friendship can come in many forms. Some of your friends may be from another school, while others may be from your neighborhood or activity that you are involved in. You can also have friends within your family. The friends your child chooses are critical influences in their lives. Ask your child what qualities he or she looks for in a friend and why it is important to have friends you can trust.

After talking about true friends, plan a weekend this month to host a fun slumber party with the friends your child most trusts and enjoys. Plan the party together with your child, then sit back and enjoy watching him or her grow healthy relationships!

Calling All D.O.G.S.!

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is a program from the National Center for Fathering, whose purpose is to provide positive male role models for students by being present in education.

Watch D.O.G.S. are fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and other father-figures who volunteer for at least one day during the school year by helping in the classroom, lunch, recess, specials, at arrival and dismissal, etc.

To 6th grade parents,

In order to comply with entry requirement for 7th Grade, students will be required to have the following immunizations:

Tdap (diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis)

Meningococcal (Must clearly indicate: MCV4, Menveo, Menactra)

I will be putting monthly reminders in your student’s backpack if I do not have documentation of the required immunizations. If you do not receive a reminder, your child is good to register for 7th grade. Please provide this documentation ASAP.

Students cannot start 7th grade without these immunizations. Tdap and meningococcal vaccine for all 6th graders going to 7th grade will be due by May 12, 2023. You may send your updated shot record to veronica.jimenez@allenisd.org.
