Week of October 31st
Kimenya and I are seeing great instruction during classroom observations. Please respond to any questions that may be asked at the end of the observation. Questions will be put in the overall comments section.
Please be prepared to share successes and ideas:
• K-5th: Update on classroom students and the progress (data) of your RTI students and small groups.
• K-5th: What challenges are you having?
• K-5th: Proposed Solutions
• K-5th: What support is needed?
• K-5th: What are our next steps?

Upcoming Professional Development
Lucy Calkins Camp
We are excited to be hosting teachers from across the district for this workshop on Wednesday, November 2nd. Liz Bridges and Melanie Westmoreland will be facilitating the workshop. The following teachers will attend Lucy Calkins Camp from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.: Hope, Michele, Iris, Tara, Kaitlyn, Britney, Brianna, Rose, and Kelli.
I know it's difficult to be away from your students so I really appreciate your willingness to strive for continuous improvement!
Safety First
Please make sure that students are supervised at all times. Students being left unsupervised is a liability. If you are going to be late for duty, please call the office to notify an administrator.
Safeshare.tv
Safeshare.tv's mission is to provide a safe environment, where YouTube and Vimeo videos can be seen without any distraction. In order to do that, Safeshare has implemented a platform where you can create a "SafeView", which are minimalistic versions of YouTube videos. With these SafeViews, you will be able to share videos with children without being afraid that they can get to potentially inappropriate content.
YouTube’s Safety mode is far from fullproof. If the person who uploaded an inappropriate video hasn’t selected Enable age restriction, or other users haven’t flagged it as objectionable, YouTube’s filter probably won’t block it. Unfortunately, this is very common and children are constantly bombarded with inappropriate videos on YouTube, and that's why the SafeShare.TV project was born.
Remember that you should preview all video's prior to showing the video to students.
Parent Involvement
As you know parent involvement is pivotal to the success of students. Please read this article https://community.nwea.org/docs/DOC-1746 and post your reflection in Canvas by Friday, November 11th.
Leadership Now Institute
I will be attending this training that is sponsored by Solution Tree Tuesday - Friday. If you have an issue or concern, please see Mrs. Ramet. If you need to contact me, please e-mail, text or call me on my cell phone.
Shout Outs
Thank you Mrs. Simon for coordinating our Red Ribbon Week! You are Awesome!
Congratulations, Brittney Linn on receiving a literacy grant for the York County Library.
Healthy Snacks
Monday is Halloween. Please remember that Valentine's is the only district approved party for the school year. We must adhere to district guidelines concerning cupcakes and snacks being brought into the building.
Communication
If you have parents/guardians that are not receiving our e-newletters or Parentlink notices, please ask them to contact the office to make sure we have updated phone numbers and e-mail addresses.
Discipline Documentation
Please do not use the name of another student(s) in your written referrals. If needed, please send additional information on a sticky note or verbally let us know. This is due to adhering to the FERPA guidelines, for all parents receiving a copy of student referrals.
Please do not send students to the office without notifying the office or providing written documentation. We need to ensure all students are safe and supervised at all times.
