PSAT 8
April 1, 2022
Hello Students and Parents,
We will be administering the PSAT8 to all 8th-grade students on Wednesday, April 13. This is a required state test for all of our students. Testing will begin at 8:00 AM and conclude by 11:05 AM.
The PSAT8 is the first test in the SAT Suite of Assessments. It sets a readiness baseline, allowing students and teachers to pinpoint areas for focused practice as students progress through High School (Michigan Coordinator Manual, College Board Pg. 3)
This paper and pencil test covers reading, writing, and mathematics and is composed of both a calculator and a non-calculator section of the test.
Students were already sent home with the PSAT 8/9 Student guide. This guide contains valuable information about the nature of the test and tips for a successful test day.
Students should come to school on the day of the test fully rested and with the following materials:
Two No. 2 pencils
Scientific Calculator (Not graphing)
Water bottle clearly labeled with the student’s name
If your student does not have these materials, they will be provided by the school.
Please let me know if you have any questions about the PSAT8 or any of our testing procedures.
Sincerely,
Scott Stockwell
HMS Principal
Thank you to the Hopkins Lions Club!
Your generous donation of ice cream treats for the students was most appreciated!
Cell phones are to be turned off and kept in their lockers during the school day. Cell phones that are used during the school day will be confiscated and must be picked up by a parent.
If a student needs to contact a parent/guardian, they can go to the office to either use their cell phone or call from the office phone. If a parent needs to reach a student, they can leave a message for their student with the office.
Attention HMS Students:
The HMS Photo Contest is back and open to all HMS students!!!
