From the Principal
Hopefully this message finds you well and in good spirits. We had another successful week of teaching and learning. Highlights of the week include each scholar's commitment to safety thanks to reinforcement by teachers and parents, fun attire for our Christmas Break countdown, celebrations of 4th grade scholars by their teachers, recognition of scholars receiving positive office referrals, completion of BrightBytes surveys (thanks parents, scholars, and teachers), and willing participants in our Annual Campus Spelling Bee.
Our 3rd graders competed first, and they were well-prepared for several rounds. After a quick change of location since we were approaching the start of lunch in the cafeteria, our 4th and 5th graders were ready to compete. There ended up being 20+ rounds, so we appreciate our scholars for taking the time to study so that they were ready. While we were unable to have guests due to the current pandemic, we were happy to have scholars in both traditional instruction and online flex learning competing. The 1st and 2nd place winners from the 4th/5th Grade Spelling Bee will advance to the District Spelling Bee, and our 3rd place winner will serve as an alternate. We celebrate ALL participants because it takes a lot of courage to get up in front of your peers and be vulnerable; see the Scenes from the Week for pictures and names. Thanks a bunch to Mrs. Gardner, Ms. Peterbark, and Mrs. Powell for coordinating the Spelling Bee.
This week, we continue the learning AND our Christmas Break Countdown. Scholars are welcome to participate based on the attire indicated. We will also have curriculum based assessments (CBAs for 2-5 grades). Things are different from previous years due to the pandemic, so we will not have the traditional class holiday parties where parents send items. Families are invited to attend the PTA event "Christmas on the Lake". This will be a drive-thru event that takes place on Friday, December 18, 2020 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Contact PTA for additional information and/or to volunteer.
While we are not accepting walk-ins at this time, you are encouraged to call the campus and/or email us for assistance. As a reminder, if you need support with accessing your Skyward/Family Access account, please email family.access@chisd.net. All families are encouraged to log in to make sure that mailing addresses, email addresses, phone numbers, and emergency contacts are accurate. If you need assistance and/or have a question about technology, you may email devicesupport@chisd.net, or call the helpline at 469-272-2082.
