Happy Thursday All!!
Some thoughts...
Mind the Gap - this is an image that I have shared often and that I am drawn back to often. It comes from Brene Brown. It is the idea of how do our actually actions match our stated values. It is important to work to not have a gap between these two. But that is often easier said than done. As I reflect on the year I know that I have allowed that gap to be too great and I hope that I can work on that going into next year. I appreciate your alls help in drawing my attention to that gap. Hopefully, together we can Mind the Gap!
Community, Values, Culture - This quote comes from Beartown by Fredrik Backman. As we go into the summer and next year I believe that this should help steer us and I hope that our work with help us create some common understanding that can help keep our community strong!
1. Last Two Day
Yearbooks - We will hand out yearbooks during 8th hour tomorrow (Friday). Charles will be giving you all the yearbooks for your 8th-hour classes.
Last Day - Here is the schedule for the last day of school. It is our traditional Variety Show/Last Day schedule!

Check Out - Please make sure you take care of the check out form that Paula has put in your mailboxes. Please fill out both sides of the sheet. In cleaning up your rooms please know that all items are moved out of rooms to wax the floors. If you have personal items that you are worried about breaking or have overloaded shelves now may be the time to take items home or unburden the shelves. There are boxes in the concession stand for those that need them and packing tape can be found in the office.
Last Day Luncheon - Last year we start the tradition of an end of school luncheon. This will continue Tuesday. Once students are out of the building we will meet in the cafeteria for lunch. This is an opportunity to recognize those staff members that are moving on to other buildings or other pursuits. It is also a chance to just relax and share some time with one another.
2. Discipline Matrix
Kelly and several other administrators have been working on a new discipline matrix. This is a way to ensure that all buildings are consistent. I have asked Dr. Stiepleman and Mrs. London if we can be the ones to beta test this matrix.
I think it will help us stay consistent. We will receive support and help from Carla and Vince Thompson. This is a great way for us to reset, go over expectations, and have a clear, consistent plan moving forward.
We will spend time in August going over the new matrix and then having training throughout the year. Part of the process will also be looking at referrals and consequences to see how we are being consistent. There will also be plenty of opportunities for staff to give feedback.
3. Passing Period
4. RtI/Enrichment Reminders
Electives will still keep their PLT time during 3rd hour.
5. Summer Work
June 6 -- Ac Lab Discussion
June 11-- Tardy Policy
June 18 -- Behavior Matrix
June 25 -- RtI/Enrichment
July 9 -- Behavior Matrix
July 23 -- SRG
What am I reading...
Currently, I am reading two books. I believe I have mentioned them before but I am working on them again. If anyone is interested in taking a look at them and giving me their input, let me know! They are Better Than Carrots and Sticks and Building Equity. I have also been listening/reading Dare to Lead. You all know that I really enjoy Brene Brown!
