Progress Report Week! #ONEcentral
Hello Everyone!
It's incredible to think that this is our fourth week of distance learning. I am proud to say you have all tackled this with professionalism, skill, and most importantly with compassion for your students and families.
As you know, the Governor has announced officially that we will remain closed for the remainder of the school year. Even though it may not be the word we wanted to hear, we can at least take a deep breath and know what is to be expected for our final weeks.
Thank you to so many of you who have been out in pairs delivering awards and encouragement to our students. I know it does your heart good to see them and know that they are okay, but also to see the smiles on their faces to see that their teacher cares. Thanks also for going in pairs and social distancing so we can post these reunions.
This week is progress report week. We will not be mailing progress reports. The ideal would be that all parents can log on to Skyward. Please update grades as much as is possible by Tuesday, so that parents can log in and have an accurate look. We will assist those who call in, however it would be a relief to me if you can also each share with your parents where their child stands (only on the graded assignments) in each subject area. One easy way to do this would be to take a screen shot of their grades from Skyward in one picture and send it to them on Wednesday. All graded work can be made up and many of you have already excused grades where that student began late online. Friday is an early release day. You can use that time to plan and even make those final contacts with parents on grades this week.
Have a blessed week and I hope you all participate in our Virtual Spirit week! I will post it below. If your kiddos send you pics or you zoom and take a selfie shot of your group, please post them under the daily post for spirit week! We hope we get tons of participating students, grade-levels and teacher teams! Let's show our Panther Pride!
Your Principal,
Cynthia

APPRECIATIONS
Our Commitment and Pledge to Central Instruction
Together we commit to working hard to make sure instruction and assignments are both rigorous and engaging. We will continue setting the bar (grade-level standards) high and placing that intellectual lift on our students. This is the key to mastering complex material.
Time and time again, research has shown that when students are given access to four critical classroom level resources, they can and will make BIG academic gains.
- Grade-appropriate assignments (Rigor of the Standards)
- Strong instruction that lets students do most of the thinking in the lesson (facilitate with probing questions- most of the talking should be the students)
- A sense of deep engagement in what they're learning
- Teachers who hold high expectations for ALL students and truly believe they can meet grade-level standards (Set the bar high)
Every student will receive daily access to challenging, engaging, and grade-appropriate work. With each day that passes we will refine our skills to the best of the best in our profession! We will focus daily on what our students are learning and doing, we will strengthen our belief about what students can accomplish.
Together we are committed. Together we are Central. We are #ONECENTRAL
