Mrs. Martello
3rd Grade Academic Interventionist
My education
I would like to introduce myself. My name is Tawna Martello and I will be working with your 3rd grader in the areas of math and/or language arts! I am graduate of Central Michigan University where I majored in Elementary Education with minors in history, language arts, and psychology. In December 2001, I earned my teaching certificate and Bachelor's Degree. Since then I have taken several classes in reading and education at University of Michigan-Flint.
teaching is my passion
I have been working with children since I became a tutor for younger kids at the age of 10. During college, I was a nanny, daycare worker, and preschool teacher. I also taught first grade internationally in Venezuela, South America. After graduating, I went back to teaching preschool until 2010, when Lake Fenton became my home.
Title One
I began teaching as the 3rd grade Academic Interventionist this past January. I am looking forward to working with your student this year! Each week, I will meet with your child at least twice for reading and three times for math assistance. I will be working with the students in small groups and individually, at times. My goal is to help the students work towards mastery in both math and reading. I work closely with the 3rd grade teachers to ensure that the students are understanding the material presented. I use hands-on manipulatives, interactive whiteboard technology, and small group meetings to assist the students with their success.
