Every Child, Every Day!
Week of May 18, 2020
Update from the Superintendent
As we complete week four of our new remote learning plan, we would like to give a shout out to all of the East China parents that are juggling the learning plans of their children while continuing to run households and working to support their families. It is not easy and some days are downright difficult. And while we are all working to focus on the new and different positive experiences during this time, it is still okay to not get everything perfect.
In order to support the wellness of our children parents must prioritize their wellness and take care of their own needs while taking care of everything else. The article below gives some good suggestions and strategies for parents who are doing it all. Please remember to take time for yourself. We don't have to do everything, do what you can and what is best for your family.
Together we will be okay,
Gearing Elementary News
Teachers at Gearing Elementary, as well as those from across the district, want students to know that they haven’t gone anywhere. They are merely waiting in the wings until it’s safe enough to be back in the classroom. Students are our main purpose, so we feel a little lost without them.
We are now in our 4th week of online learning and we hope that we have worked out all of the kinks. If you have any questions about your lesson, please contact your child’s teacher or principal for assistance. We are all in this together!
Please remember that our students' social/emotional health is of the utmost importance during this unprecedented time. Hopefully the weather is changing and we can start spending as much time as possible outside enjoying the sunshine.
Below is a Facebook Live video that was recorded on May 8th. I asked Gearing Elementary students to send me any questions that they had about school during the Stay Home Stay Safe order. We will be doing another one on May 22 and 1:00 p.m. Tune in on Gearing Elementary Facebook to watch the next LIVE video!
Hoping all is well and everyone is healthy,
Mr. Phil Russell
