Planning Ahead for December, 2020
The Jackson Local School District is committed to the safety and health of our students, staff, and community. At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, the Jackson Local School District Board of Education unanimously approved a modification to deliver instruction to students in the district amid COVID-19 community spread, which has created significant staffing challenges. At this time, COVID-19 community spread is negatively impacting our workforce and our ability to continue to provide in-person instruction.
In an effort to reallocate resources, Jackson High School students will transition to all remote learning (eLearning 2.0 POLARIS) on December 2. By reallocating staff to K-8 buildings, the district believes it will maintain in-person instruction at the K-8 buildings through December 4. All remaining grades levels will transition to eLearning 2.0 on December 7, until in-person instruction resumes on January 4.
The district has advised parents to develop contingency plans for childcare needs for those in grades K-8. By making this decision now, Jackson Local K-8 parents will have more than two weeks to plan and arrange childcare for December 7-18. As a reminder, all plans are subject to change based on the developing COVID-19 pandemic.
Jackson Local’s Restart Jackson learning models were developed over the summer to create flexibility and mobility during these unprecedented times. One of the guiding principles from the CDC and Department of Education was to design plans that are flexible. Many of our families have transitioned between in-person and eLearning 2.0 since the start of the school year. We are appreciative for the support we have received from our parents, stakeholders, and community members. We believe this path forward during December gives us our best opportunity to remain open after Winter Break.
The Latest Information from JMMS

The 2020-2021 JMMS Academic Challenge Team needs YOU! If you have a need for speed, know facts and trivia, love competitions or want to be on a team, the Academic Challenge Team would be GREAT for you! The Academic Challenge Team is made up of 6th, 7th and 8th grade students who share a common goal and desire to challenge themselves and others to be successful. Academic Challenge is designed to allow all students opportunities to grow as individuals and create bonds with their teammates. Due to this year's circumstances, students will be participating virtually in meets, but this is subject to change. More information is available on Wednesday, November 18th in room 257 after school. This will last very briefly, but students should plan for parents to pick them up after school outside doors 20 E. If you cannot make the meeting, feel free to email Miss Nousek at mtn2jc@bearworks.jackson.sparcc.org
SKI CLUB CANCELED FOR 2020-21 - Unfortunately, JHS and JMMS are canceling Ski Club due to concerns related to COVID-19. This was a difficult decision to make. Thank you to those who reached out with questions and concerns.
