Seguin Update for Parents - August 28, 2020

Accordin' to Borden

As we wrap up a second successful week of learning in this new virtual space, I was reminded several times this week of how special "Seguin Nation" really is.

I want you, the parents and students, to know that our reputation as a top school for academic achievement in the area is spreading. Families want their students at Seguin and they are fighting to be a part of our community. Our enrollment is over projection for the third year in a row - even during this COVID uncertainty. For the first time as principal, I am having to turn families away!

These are great problems to have. It speaks to all of the hard work, love, and intentionality that our teachers, admin, and staff members have put into our commitment to excellence.

As your principal, I want you to know that we are working on building a strong sense of community around the phrase "Seguin Nation". We want everyone in this city to know when they see the blue and black Cougar that it stands for excellence in academics, excellence in fine arts and athletics, and excellence in character!

We need you to partner with us to give our kids an awesome high school experience that prepares them for the next stages of their lives! We need you to be active participants in this journey. So, I thank you in advance for supporting them in their virtual learning, for coming out to support them in sports & fine arts, for joining and volunteering for our PTSA, for staying in touch with their teachers, and for the many other ways you show your support of our students!

I am so proud of this school and blessed to be the leader of this learning community!

- Mr. Borden

We had our Virtual Open House this past Monday and it was a great success!!! We had over 150 attend our PTSA Meeting - by far the LARGEST number of attendees since I've been the principal!

Thank you to Ms. Karla Cotton, our amazing PTSA President and thank you, the parents, so much for your support!!!

Now we need you to sign up to be a member of our PTSA!!! The membership is quick and easy! It only costs $8 for the entire year and it goes to:

  • Help support our teachers throughout the year
  • Fund scholarships for OUR students at Seguin
  • Support family engagement in our community

We also need officers and volunteers for PTSA so if you are interested in increasing your support of our school community, please contact our PTSA President, Ms. Cotton @ ptsajuanseguin@gmail.com or call 682-367-3282.
