Third Grade Immersion

I am excited to announce that Missy Wright was asked to teach the English "side" of the third grade Spanish Immersion team next year and.....SHE ACCEPTED!!

I am so excited for Missy as she dives into this new adventure!

Information on Hall Printers

Mr Zazzara graciously did a printer audit in our school and found that we didn't have enough network printers for a school our size. I agreed with him. He petitioned the district office for an additional network printer and they agreed. He has gotten this printer and is working on getting it installed. This should mean that each hallway will now have their own networked laser printer! Mr. Zazzara will be coming around over the next few weeks to make sure that your computer is connected to your hallway printer. This should cut down on travel time to retrieve documents from the office printer. The printers in the front office will be reserved for front office staff. Should you need to print to the color printer please let Rhonda or Brian know.

Breakfast on Late Start and Delayed Start?

At our principal meeting this week we were asked if we wanted to serve breakfast on late start or delayed start days. To my surprise, many schools indicated they already do! I didn't know this was an option. I would like your feedback. Do you think it is necessary to serve breakfast on late start and delayed start days? Click here to provide your input.

Trickling In?

Two weeks ago I asked that students not be held back from related arts. While this has gotten better, the related arts team is reporting that students continue to "trickle" in. This makes it difficult, when the skills and concepts are being taught at the beginning of class, for students to get caught up when they come in. Please escort all children to related arts on time.

Online Teacher Survey for 2015 School Report Card

It's time to complete the Online Teacher Survey for 2015 School Report Card!

The teacher survey is conducted online over the internet from the State Department of Education website, located here: http://ed.sc.gov/

On the right side of the home page are a series of boxes, please click the box entitled Report Card – Teacher Survey to access the survey.

Please pay attention to the following timelines for completing the teacher survey online.

March 3, 2015 –Teacher Survey portal opens.

March 31, 2015 –Teacher Survey portal closes.

Teachers, librarians, guidance counselors, and speech therapists at the school should complete the teacher survey. Part-time teachers may complete a survey form if they are on campus at least half of each school day or week.

The survey may be completed using any computer with internet access. Teachers may use their home computers.

Our school SIDN number is 4603023. Please have this survey completed by March 31, 2015.

End-of-Year GBE Conference

It's that time. Please click here to sign up in Canvas for your end of year GBE conference. Please bring any evidence that you have that supports your GBE goal. I realize many of you had goals that were dependent upon Spring MAP scores or other end of year tests, it is okay to provide evidence outside of these scores that support your GBE. Feel free to see me if you need help with this.

Community Visit

I will be talking more in grade level meetings about our community visit, however, there is a deadline for Thursday (March 12) that I wanted you to be aware of now. For our community visit students will be putting together movies for each grade level/content area that share what that grade level/content area is "all about." What is your "claim to fame?" As a grade level or one per content area teacher, please write a short paragraph (being read, it should be between 45 seconds to 2 minutes in length) that tells the community what you want them to know about your grade level/content area.

I should receive one paragraph from each grade, one per related arts teacher, one for resource/special education, one for ESOL, one from Brian, one from me, one from guidance, and one from GT.

Please email these to both me and Chris Odom.

Here is a sample of what I might have written as a fifth grade teacher:

Welcome to fifth grade at Ebinport Elementary. In fifth grade we learn a lot about U.S. History. We begin by learning about reconstruction after the Civil War we cover through current events in our social studies curriculum. Fifth graders at Ebinport enjoy time in our school garden while learning about... We go on many special field trips, this year we have gone to...

SKILLSCOPE 360

As part of my first year principal training I am required to undergo a 360 degree evaluation. While this is not part of my district evaluation, I will receive the results from the State Department and will use them for self-reflection and professional and personal growth. Within the week all staff will be getting an email asking for you to complete a survey about me. Please take time to complete honestly and thoughtfully. It is anonymous and all responses are held through a third party. Only final results will be compiled for me to see. All surveys must be completed by March 25. Members of the district office will also be asked to complete a survey regarding my performance and leadership this year.If you haven't received an email by Friday, check your junk e-mail folder. The email will come from the Center for Creative Leadership. Thank you for providing constructive feedback.

Congratulations Ebinport Elementary

It was reported several weeks ago that the leadership team worked extremely hard on Ebinport's application to become a Winthrop Partner school. I received word this afternoon that we have been accepted into this partnership! Please read below to see the email I was sent by Paul Horne, the Partnership Network Coordinator.

Dear Rhonda:

It gives me great pleasure to inform you that Ebinport Elementary School has been selected to join the Winthrop University-School Partnership for the 2015-16 school year. A formal letter verifying the selection will be sent early next week, but I wanted to let you know of the acceptance before you go home for the weekend. Congratulations! We look forward to working with you in the future.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great weekend!
