A DAY AT THE BEACH...
November 2022 - Native American Heritage Month
Principal Message
This past month I have personally learned a lot, and know there is much more to learn. From my earliest conversations to today, I am hearing many shared goals and hopes for how school will support each of our students in being affirmed, confident, prepared, and finding joy in learning. A clear sentiment has also emerged about feeling the loss of celebration and tradition after multiple years navigating important safety measures and pauses on how we come together.
As a school, we are committed and energized by the ability to rebuild and re-imagine our school experiences and opportunities that bring us together, in community. We are actively working to design school specific events as a staff and through partnership with other organizations, such as the BCU. Our actions will be guided by the commitment to inclusivity and being mindful of how our decisions contribute to a sense of belonging and learning.
I am hopeful and confident that what we will create will expand and honor the spirit of our shared goals for each of our students. No matter the day of the year, this is what we are always seeking to accomplish.
We look forward to sharing more and appreciate the contributions of ideas for what brings us together!
Kelli

K-5 CONFERENCES AND REPORTS CARDS
If you have not yet scheduled an in-person or virtual fall conference with your students teacher, please reach out to them this week to do so. Thank you!
For the past several years, PPS K-5 educators have used conference forms instead of the K-5 report card to communicate with families about student progress in the first quarter of school.
This year, however, we are returning to the use of first quarter report cards for all grades. This means that K-5 families will receive a first quarter report card for their children in mid-November. Conversations during conferences later in the month will be guided by student work, fall assessment data, and the report card.

Our Lost and Found is overflowing!
We are trying hard to get warm clothes and coats to kiddos who need them in time for the cold, wet weather. Please take time to look through our lost and found for any items your kids may be missing! All items that remain unclaimed will be washed and taken to our clothing closet.
We will have all lost and found items out on the playground after school on Thursday 11/3, and Thursday 11/10. Or you can check-in at the main office or with SUN staff to access the lost and found area.
