The Seahawk Scoop

January 11, 2021

Dear Beach Middle Families,

I hope everyone enjoyed a restful holiday break. We made it to 2021!

My staff is continuing to work through the waiting list for those parents who requested to change from Option 2 (Remote) to Option 1 (Face to Face). Space is limited and we are at capacity in many classes. If your child is currently listed as an Option 1 student and you are contemplating changing to Option 2, please contact us as soon as possible so that we may give that seat to a student on the waiting list. Parents will receive a direct phone call once we have evaluated your requested Option change.

The final marking period ends on January 29th, which will end Term One. The grades for Term One classes will finalize and students will begin their Term Two classes on February 2. Please review any missing assignments your child may have and reach out to teachers and/or counselors if you need assistance. Any student who fails a core class for Term One will be required to repeat that class in summer school in order to advance to the next grade.

Please continue to monitor the VBCPS family messages for updates regarding school operations. As always, do not hesitate to reach out if I can be of any assistance.

If anyone in your home tests positive for COVID-19, or exhibits symptoms, please contact our school nurse, Ann James, or me, as soon as possible. It is vital to our return efforts that we have accurate information so that appropriate quarantine protocols are followed. SOL's

As of now we are still scheduled to administer SOL's beginning after the holidays. If you are looking for some math practice for your child- see the information below.

As we round the corner to the end of the term, SOL’s are coming near.

Encourage students to use this SOL review website to strengthen their skills. Each topic has IXL’s to practice in relation to the SOL strand.

SOL REVIEW WEBSITE

It’s a great way for them to watch a video and get additional practice and prepare. Have them review old tests to see which strand they need help with, watch the video, and practice on IXL.

PTA Membership Form

The PTA membership form can now be completed online. A PDF is also attached at the bottom of this newsletter. We appreciate your support of the VBMS PTA.
