K-5 Assessment Window
(per the email to elementary teachers on Sept 1 from M. Bradford)
As you know, for the 20-21 school year, school districts must, within the first 30 days of school administer both benchmark assessments in grades K-8 to measure proficiency in reading and math. Our benchmark assessments are NWEA. Our diagnostic assessment in reading is DRA and used to determine MTSS groups (intervention/acceleration Zoom times).
Therefore, we have developed a timeline of assessments to be administered in order to stay within the required window for NWEA and to avoid overwhelming students, families and you during our remote learning window.
Week of Sept 8th in person testing
- K-5th Math NWEA
- 1st-5th DRA (use DRA scores to determine groups for intervention/acceleration zoom times and instruction)
- Kinder – letters and sounds
Week of Sept 14th - remote learning
- Math end of year assessment - teachers please communicate to parents not to help their child and explain the purpose is to identify next steps in instruction
Week of Sept 28th - remote learning
- 3rd-5th Reading NWEA –the testing window opens but can be postponed until we return face to face in October.
Weeks of Oct 5th - 19th - in person testing
- K-2 Reading NWEA
- Send home all student NWEA reports and K-3 parent intervention letters no later than Oct 19th per state requirements
Weeks of Oct 5th – Oct 31 in person testing
- K-5 pre writing prompts
Weeks of Oct 5th – Nov 20th in person testing
- all other required MLPP assessments by grade level – ex. sight words
From our Tech Department...
New Students: As new students enroll they will be given an @students.lapeerschools.org account. This account will be visible after 3:00 p.m. on the day they enroll. You can find their info in PowerSchool. You will not need to create a technology ticket for newly enrolled students.
