CHS Internship Program for 2021-22 School Year
Chesterton High School is interested in establishing partnerships with Duneland businesses who would be willing to host a CHS student in an internship position for the 2021-2022 school year and beyond. If you have a business or know of any businesses that would like to participate in the internship program, please contact Chris Roof at croof@duneland.k12.in.us or 219-983-3770.
The goal of the CHS Internship Program is to provide students with structured opportunities to understand the relevance between classroom learning and the work environment, while participating as productive employees/volunteers in a company or organization. These internship opportunities allow students to explore areas of personal and career interests, acquire the skills necessary to be successful employees, and to formulate goals and plans for their futures.
Remote Students: Information on picking up materials for second semester!
All remote students can pick up classroom materials for the second semester on Wednesday, January 20th during regular school hours. Remote students in need of textbooks or other supplies for new courses will be able to pick up their materials outside of their teachers' classrooms. Remote students must check out in the main office before leaving with any classroom materials. Students will complete a checkout sheet before leaving the school building on Wednesday that identifies which materials they collected.
Scheduling Process for the 2021-22 school year
Scheduling for the 2021-22 school year is now open. Every student should go to the School Counseling Office Canvas course and complete the Scheduling assignment. If you have questions, please contact your school counselor.
On Friday, January 8 all students in grades 9th - 11th watched a video during their 5th block class regarding the scheduling process for the 2021-22 school year. In the weeks to follow, students will select classes that they want to take for the upcoming school year. I would like to challenge all students to think about the classes that you are selecting to align with your interest for life after high school. Also, I would like to challenge you to explore the opportunities that we have created for you regarding dual credit classes, AP classes, and IB courses as you select your classes for next year.
In addition, I would like to encourage all current Juniors to think about participating in our Internship Program for the 2021-22 school year. Juniors will have an opportunity to participate in a real world learning experience by being an intern at a local business. There are many options for all of you and we are here to help you along the way!
