It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year!
Joy to the Library!
Students eagerly opened packages of books that were delivered at our November assembly.
Staff worked quickly to get them on the shelves so students could check them out!
We Love Our Veterans ❤️
The Calder school hosted their annual Veteran's Day luncheon. At the luncheon student artwork including the mottos of the various military branches was proudly displayed. Veterans were honored and invited to share stories and give students advice. Students served the veterans and thanked them for their service.
Veterans and their families were honored.
Veterans shared stories with staff and students.
They also encouraged students with advice.
Wrapping Up Planting the Moon
Middle school students finished up their last week of monitoring plant growth. They began working on their final reports for the project.
Students say they learned:
- Plant aged potatoes otherwise they may not sprout.
- Radishes may not be a long-day plant and might not have done well because of constant light.
- Work together and not against each other.
- How to test pH.
- Exolith is not like soil.
Their favorite parts of the Challenge were:
- Planting seeds
- Watching plants grow in different soils
- Playing with dirt
- Learning about how plants grow
- Using the new science lab
Christmas Program Preparations
Staff and students are hard at work preparing for the annual Christmas program. Students are working on stage and set design, music, and costumes. Join us on Wednesday, December 20 at 6:00 pm for our special event.
Popcorn and Percentages
Math coach, Courtney Greene, conducted a fun and filling lesson in Miss Heida's room last month. Students learned about percentages then got to eat their math work.
