Kia ora koutou, kumusta, talofa lava
It has been an amazing week weather-wise. It lifts everyone’s mood when we have warm weather with plenty of sunshine. It’s a timely reminder for us to wear hats and slip on some sunscreen. I am pleased to say that our students are very good at being sun smart.
On a different note, thankyou to the many parents and caregivers who have completed the survey we sent out via our school app. We are appreciating your very positive feedback so far and the ideas you have for future direction in our school. If you haven't yet completed this please do so as soon as possible as it closes on Monday 7 November. There are two $50 New World vouchers to be won and all completed survey entries go in the draw to win one of these.

Keeping Ourselves Safe
We are continuing to teach the personal safety programme Keeping Ourselves Safe.
Keeping Ourselves Safe has been designed to give students the skills to cope in situations involving abuse. The programme was designed by teachers and the New Zealand Police. It is part of the current Health and Physical Education curriculum.
It has three overall aims:
● to develop and strengthen children’s skills to keep themselves safe with other people, both online and face to face
● to support and encourage abused children to get help from caring adults
● to make teachers and parents and caregivers more aware of the need to keep children safe from abuse by adults or other children.
Keeping Ourselves Safe will be taught by your child’s teacher, with support from the local Police School Community Officer Constable Meg Moynihan who will assist the teachers in the teaching of some lessons of this programme.

Our Catholic Faith Fact - All Saints and All Souls Days
The word "Halloween" is a direct derivation of All Saints Day with "All Hallows" in Old English meaning "the feast of the saints." "Halloween" has also been translated to "Eve of All Hallows," which was a holy day celebrating the day before All Saints Day.
All Saints' Day is celebrated the first day of November while All Souls' Day is celebrated November 2

Attendance Dues Debt Recovery
Please be advised that at the May 2022 Cathedral Parish Finance Committee, the committee signed off on a new Attendance Dues Debt Recovery Policy. This enables the parish to engage an external debt recovery company (Under Control Collections). This will always be used as a last resort, when we have been unable to get a family to engage with us in relation to their outstanding Attendance Dues.
Any queries should be directed to Kirsten Tester – Attendance Dues Administrator - Ph (03) 595 1053 or email@example.com
Please email the school office to obtain a secure link to download the app.
