Gaspee Incident

June 10th, 1772

Summary

The Gaspee was known as a HMS ship sent by king George III and was burned down in Rhode Island waters by Rhode Island colonists. In response the crowd sent many to question and investigate Rhode Island colonists.

Response From the British

in response American leaders became more collective and started the first congress in Virginia. This began a political and ideological movement.
