Early Drop Off issues
For those parents that drop off students for an 8:00 program/activity, please be sure you are drop your child off at 8:00 (7:55 the earliest). Those teachers are assigned to be here for 8:00. Any child that is dropped off earlier than that will need to pay $3.50 per day for the early morning care program.
"Super Miles" Information
Did you know that we have our very own superhero in Hope Valley School? “Super Miles” as he is known to family and friends has bravely fought liver cancer for three years. Miles received a liver transplant in 2017 and has since undergone chemotherapy and other surgeries to battle his cancer. After exhausting all conventional treatments, Miles was recently granted a new clinical trial drug. He is the first child in the world to trial this. He, and his amazing family, could really use the love and support of our Chariho community as he ventures into the unknown. Throughout all of his treatments and hospital stays Miles remains a silly, beautiful boy! His smile melts the hearts of everyone he meets. He teaches us every day about positivity and seeing the good in every moment. Every time Miles has a procedure or is awaiting results, he and his loved ones wear green to show support.
As a district, let’s go the extra mile for Miles and dress in green on Tuesday, November 26!
Use #gogreen4Miles so he can see your pictures!
Miles parents asked that any donations from the day go to The Hasbro Tomorrow Fund, an organization that supports pediatric cancer patients and their families. Envelopes will be at each building if you would like to donate.
Containers will be set up in the hallway across from the main office for your child to drop off any spare change. https://www.tomorrowfund.org/
A Special Thank You
Halloween EventThere was no newsletter last week due to the storm and school was cancelled. So this is a week late and I apologize. But a very special thank you to Susan Hawkins and Becky Champlin for all they did to make the Trunk or Treat event successful despite all the rain! I was ready to cancel the event but those two individuals made some calls and made magic happen in less than 24 hours. Huge kudos to them. Thank you to all those who helped that day to make it a success for the children. Last but certainly not least, we cannot thank the YMCA in Richmond enough for allowing us to host our event indoors. The Vendor Fair was another great success. Thank you to Jen Waterman and Becky Champlin for organizing this amazing event. It was amazing walking around and seeing the amazing items our vendors were selling. I was just in awe at some of the creations. Thank you Donna Sunderland for your help with the event from start to finish.
School dental screening
School dental screening will be held on January 7, 2020
State law requires that children in grades K to 4 be screened by a dentist yearly. Please fill out and send back the dental form that will be coming home with your child to verify that your child sees a dentist. Any child who does not have documentation of a dental visit will be screened by the school dentist.
Thank you, Lynn Larned, CSNT
