Grade Service Project Week Mar 12-16
Important Info
The interior doors will now lock shortly after block 1 begins. Please check in at the front office when you arrive.
****Work Experience students - reminder to get all your paperwork into Mr Wandler. You can not start counting your hours until this step occurs****
-Notre Dame is a hat free facility
-no vaping, tobacco or alcohol is permitted anywhere on school property
-be sure to sign up for MyPass. You will need it to get any access to transcripts.
-all Gr. 12 students should have connected with Ms. Halter for an appointment.
-Gr. 12 students need to keep checking the Grad tab on NDHS website, for updates.
-all students are required to attend NDD and are to stay at the school during NDHS
either in sessions or completing school work.
-be sure to get involved in school activities. The year is already half over!
Grad Service Project Events
The charity is chosen - Aspire Special Needs Resource Centre.
Teams are formed. (16 from ND, 13 from St. Francis)
Fundraising is well underway. (each ND team has a fundraising goal of $2018)
Challenges are set.
Teams will face several challenges during lunch from Monday - Thursday. Our biggest challenge of all will begin at 4pm on Friday. Teams, along with their team parent, will gather at Notre Dame at 4pm. They will be given a collection list and challenge list. Teams will be sent on their way to complete as many challenges and collect as many items as possible. They must return to ND by 1pm on Saturday.
They may walk, ride bikes and use Red Deer Public Transit - thanks for helping us out RD Transit!
Come support our students helping others. Donate, cheer them on, help out, spread the word.

Please submit your write ups to Mrs Elphick in room 2804 or in the box during your grad photo's. This write up will be read as you walk across the stage as well as be under your grad photo in the yearbook. Any questions see Mrs Elphick or Mrs Nivens

Red Deer College
- Red Deer College is hosting a Student for a Day event in their school of Creative Arts March 23rd. Register online at rdc.ab.ca/sfad
- Red Deer College Donald School of Business is hosting a Student for a Day event on March 23. Register for the event by emailing dsbinfo@rdc.ab.ca
- For students who are planning to attend RDC in the fall, the deadline to apply to entrance awards is March 31. If you have questions about your entrance awards application, RDC will be on site at ND on February 13 to help. Book your 15 minute appointment today (spots will be limited). The sign up sheet is on Ms. Halter's office door.
UAlberta
UAlberta will be in Red Deer to help students register for the University of Alberta through Registration 101 sessions. Students must accept their offer of admission and have paid the $500 deposit at least 2 days prior to attending the Registration 101. Location: March 14, 2018 @ Lindsay Thurber High School Time: 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm OR 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm RSVP: Students can register at uab.ca/reg101 to reserve a spot.
MacEwan University
MacEwan University will be talking about their new fine arts programming during NDHS March 20. Sign up with Ms. Halter if interested in attending. MacEwan will also have an info booth set up in the gathering area over lunch that day.
Career Expo
CAREERexpo is Central Alberta’s largest student-focused career event, representing over 50 career paths. Students will have the opportunity to talk face to face with industry leaders representing hundreds of careers and post-secondary options. All grade 11 students will have the opportunity to attend this event. More details to come.
Learning Commons
ND Reading Program
The Notre Dame Reading Program (NDRP) is an online community of readers with the goal to eliminate reading loss and continue to immerse ourselves in great stories through the semester. NDRP is hosted on Google Classroom. When you finish a book, post the title, author and a short review of your book. At the end of the semester, every student who posted will be entered to win a $50 gift card to Chapters. If you would like to join NDRP, enter this code into Google Classroom: d3bsoc2
Go Girl
Go Girls Volunteers needed!! Spend the day May 16th with hundreds of girls!! RDC’s Be Fit for Life Centre is once again encouraging young girls to keep moving. The 15th annual Go Girl event promotes health, confidence, and physical activity to Grade 5 girls in Red Deer’s public and Catholic school systems. ND student volunteers are needed to help lead and assist with activities throughout the day. Students will need to get signed permission from their teachers that they can miss classes that day.
