Free Meal Program Continued for ALL PLCS Students

The free meal program for breakfast and lunch will continue through the end of the 2020-21 school year. All PLCS students who select a complete meal will receive that meal for FREE. A complete meal is one that contains at least the minimum number of components such as an entrée plus fruit or vegetable for lunch. The free meal does not include a la carte items such as chips, water, second portions, etc.

Attendance Information

What to do if someone is testing for COVID

If someone in your household is testing for COVID or has had exposure to a COVID-positive person, please let the school know. District policy requires all school-aged children who attend PLC schools to quarantine at home until the negative test results come back.

Once you receive your results, positive or negative, please send us a copy. We need a copy before your student returns to school, so please email a copy to brenda.jung@plcschools.org or fax it to 402-898-0415, whichever is easier for you.

We appreciate your diligence and patience during this challenging year! Thank you for helping us keep all our Monarch students and staff safe so we can finish this school year strong!


Normal Attendance Procedures

If your student will be absent or arriving late, please contact Brenda Jung or Kelly Aschwege in the attendance office before 9:00 am. Written notes are not accepted.

Call or email 402-898-0413 or brenda.jung@plcschools.org

State your name, the student's name, grade, date of absence, and reason for absence.

A message may be left if the line is busy or if it is before or after school hours. Messages are checked frequently.

For appointments, please try to call at least 30 minutes before your student needs to leave school. Due to COVID restrictions, please do not come in; your student will meet you outside.

For medical appointments, please have your student bring a doctor's note to the attendance office.

If you know of an upcoming absence, you may call or email in advance; you do not need to wait until the day of the absence to notify the attendance office.

Parents may check attendance records anytime by using the district app.

Color Of Hope

It is time for the annual "My Color of Hope" Game & Cancer awareness shirts

The Junior class committee will start selling them during lunch this week at Kings corner.

"My Color of HOPE" Cancer Awareness Game date is Saturday Feb 6th at PLHS

We are selling shirts online or with Paper forms, the deadline is Jan 22nd ! ALL Paper orders MUST be turned in on or before the 22nd by 3:30 !!


Only a limited # of Shirts will be on sale at the game this year.

Shirts will be delivered to you the week of Feb 1st - 5th.... we will deliver shirts all that week for the game on the 6th.

Driver's Education

Registration for Drivers Education has began and forms are available in the bookstore or on the PLHS school website under quick links. The classes are held through ZOOM and you will be contacted with a zoom invite to access the class via student school email. The classes will begin January 23rd and go through March 20th. Behind the wheel time is scheduled on an individual basis in addition to the classroom time. Registration forms are due back to the bookstore by Wednesday, January 20th. The cost of the class is $350.00 (cash or check only) and is due along with the registration form. If paying by check the check will NOT be cashed until after the first class on January 23rd Students must be 15 years of age with a valid Nebraska learner's permit by the registration date to take the class.



DRIVER EDUCATION 2021 SPRING SCHEDULE

Classes will be held on Zoom! Instructors will contact students with zoom invites for access to class via school email.

Instructors:

Nate McGill and Chris Meehan

Classroom Dates: January 23rd, 30th

February 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

March 6th, 13th and 20th (make up date TBD)

Classroom Times: 8:00 – 10:15 or 10:15 – 12:30

Driving Dates: Schedule set up with students.

Cost: $350.00

Requirements:

Must be 15 years of age by the start of class Must have a permit to drive from the DMV of Nebraska. Most students will have a Learners Permit or School Permit.

All students must have access to a computer and email for online testing. All students must complete 20 hours of Zoom classroom instruction, Limit of 25 students per session.

Students are expected to have some experience driving and will be required to pass a DMV certified road test. The road test will be administered after students are given lessons covering a variety of driving situations including residential, city and highway driving, parking, and basic safety maneuvers.

The cost is $350.00 and is payable when students are enrolled. We accept cash or checks (payable to PLHS) Checks will note be cashed until after the first class!

2020-2021 Yearbooks

Don’t miss out on your chance to order your full-color 2021 Yearbook for your student! You can reserve your copy for $75 until April 15, 2021. An order form, along with senior tribute and senior photo information, is attached below.


Please note: The PLHS Yearbook is a “fall delivery” book. Students will pick up their books at registration in August 2021. This allows for a book that can document the ENTIRE school year, including spring sports/activities, Prom (hopefully!) & graduation.

Big picture

National Signing Day is approaching for student-athletes that plan on competing athletically at the college level. PLHS will host 2 more signing day ceremonies during the year 20-21 school year, dates are:

  • Wednesday, February 3 – 7:30 am

  • Wednesday, April 14 – 7:30 am

SPRING SPORTS BEGIN MARCH 1

The Spring sports season officially begins on Monday, March1st. All athletes must complete signup form, see link below. Also, required is the purchase of an activity ticket ($70). Spring sports and head coaches contact info is below. Let us know if you have any questions.

In order to participate and begin practicing, the following must occur:

  1. Current Physical on file
  2. Activity Ticket Purchased – may purchase in the activity’s office ($70)

Reminder- Building is Closed to Visitors

We wanted to remind you that visitors are allowed in the building by appointment only, this includes parents.

If you should need to get something to your student, please bring it in a bag with their name and grade written on it.

Please remember that there are no food deliveries allowed to the school. This includes fast food being brought by a parent. Only a sack lunch from home can be brought to a student. Someone will meet you at the door and have it delivered to your student. If you need to speak with a staff member in person please call 402-898-0400 and we can have them contact you for an appointment time. Thank you for your understanding and stay safe.
