West Genesee’s Students Earn the NYS Seal of Biliteracy

West Genesee has students receiving the NYS Seal of Biliteracy for the fifth year in a row.


This honor recognizes high school graduates who have attained a “high level of proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing in one or more languages, in addition to English.”

West Genesee CTE Scholars Inducted into National Technical Honor Society

In April, OCM BOCES inducted 17 West Genesee students into the National Technical Honor Society. Inductees represent the “best of the best” of students enrolled in career and technical education programs.


To be eligible for induction, a student must meet the following criteria: Achieved an 85 or above average in his/her Career and Technical Education class; Achieved an 85 or above average in his/her math/science class; Have been recommended by his/her teacher; Have good attendance; and Have good citizenship.

Academic All-American Swimmers from West Genesee

Congratulations to the seven West Genesee High School athletes who earned the Academic All-American honor from the National Interscholastic Swim Coaches Association (NISCA). They are Mary Lyons, Amelia Lopez, Joseph McManus, Justin Byrne, Keegan Scharoun, Alexander Shuron, and Matthew Barrington.


To receive this honor, students must meet the following qualifications: A minimum GPA of 3.750 on a 4 point scale, or 93.7500% of the grade scale your school uses for 7 semesters (non-weighted). The GPA may not be rounded up, and they must be a graduating senior.

Congratulations to Athletes Signing Letters of Intent

On May 19, ten athletes at West Genesee High School were celebrated for signing their Letter of Intent to play Division 1 or Division 2 sports. Great job and good luck!

REMINDER: Additional Days Off Because of Snow (or rather lack of....)

Because we have had no additional emergency closing days, our "give back" days with no school in session will be this Friday, May 28 and Tuesday, June 1. (We also have no school in session on Monday, May 31 for Memorial Day.)

The Central New York Regional Planning and Development Board (CNY RPDB) has partnered with its member counties (Cayuga, Cortland, Madison, Onondaga, and Oswego) to identify where our neighbors lack reliable access to broadband internet. And they are looking to you to make a difference.


To help your community all you must do is complete a quick and confidential survey about internet access and affordability at: https://www.cnyinternet.com/onondaga-county-home. You can take the survey from any computer or mobile device with internet access.
