Fundamental Five , That's a Wrap!
This week we wrapped up our book study on The Fundamental 5. Thank you for your attentiveness during the book study.
Remember these are most effective and have the greatest impact on student achievement when all five practices are used in every lesson.
It is not one more thing or 5 new things. Fundamental 5 is a simplified, more consistent approach to what you already do.
Remember what we talked about on Wednesday, Write Critically
- Purposeful and intentional writing
- Writing for the purpose of clarifying, organizing, defending, refuting, analyzing, dissecting, connecting, and/or expanding on ideas or concepts
- Process not an end prodcut
- Examples: short list, summary, mind map, purposeful note taking, exit ticket, formal essay, etc/
- Intent to distill abstract thoughts into concrete understandings
